\nOutReach<\/a>\u00a0– 23 October 2021 –\u00a0The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS)<\/a> Quantity Surveying
\nDivision hosted the HKIS Quantity Surveying Division Conference 2021 at the
\nHKIS Surveyors Learning Centre today. Themed “Forging
\nAhead: Practical Solutions in Quantity Surveying<\/b>” this year, the Conference
\ngathered government office heads, business leaders, experts and scholars to
\nshare insights on the prospects of the quantity surveying industry. Ms HO Wing Yin, Winnie, JP, Director of
\nArchitectural Services, Architectural Services Department of the HKSAR
\nGovernment<\/b> attended the
\nConference as its Guest of Honour. Delivered
\nboth online and offline, the Conference drew a participation of over 300
\nindustry professionals today. <\/p>\n
\nDivision is one of the six divisions of the HKIS and with the largest number of
\nmembers. The division has adhered to the spirit of excellence for many years.
\nAttributed to having been trained as construction cost consultants, the members
\nare equipped with the expert knowledge of costs, values, finance, contractual
\narrangements and legal matters in the construction field. In order to provide
\ncomprehensive services to society, the service areas also extend from building
\nprojects in the past, to civil engineering, mechanical and electrical
\nengineering, renovations and maintenance projects.<\/p>\n
\nwith 10 local and overseas industry leaders, experts and scholars deliberated
\non emerging trends and explored prospects of the quantity surveying industry
\nfrom all-rounded and professional perspectives. This Conference aimed at
\ninspiring delegates to explore and seize opportunities emerging in the industry.<\/p>\n
\nspeech, Ms HO Wing Yin, Winnie, JP, Director of Architectural Services,
\nArchitectural Services Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government <\/b>shared
\nwith participants the innovative technologies adopted by Architectural Services
\nDepartment and its quantity surveying branch. It reflects their determination
\nin nurturing innovative quantity surveying to tackle practical problems.<\/p>\n
\ncomprised three sessions, and covers area such as financial claims, financial
\nmanagement, overseas career path, building information modelling and modular
\nintegrated construction. Topics discussed included “”Claims due to COVID-19
\nunder different standard forms of contract”, “Opportunities and Challenges in
\nGreater Bay Area” and “BIM: Expectations, Shortfalls, Issues and Solutions” and
\nmore. Both online and offline participants engaged in active discussion. <\/p>\n
\nInstitute of Surveyors<\/b> mentions in his welcome speech, “Surveyors must
\nkeep up with the times and stay ahead of on-going development in our industry.
\nBy providing the best professional services we ensure the surveying industry can continue to flourish in
\nHong Kong.”<\/p>\n
