\nOutReach<\/a>\u00a0– 12 October 2021 –\u00a0The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS)<\/a> Building Surveying
\nDivision hosted the HKIS Building Surveyors Conference 2021 at The Mira Hong
\nKong today. Themed “Sailing Amidst the New Normal<\/b>“, the Conference
\ngathered over 300 professionals from various government offices, business
\nleaders, experts and scholars both online and offline to deliberate on the
\nprospects of surveying industry. Ir LAU Chun-kit, Ricky, JP, Permanent Secretary for Development (Works),
\nDevelopment Bureau, Hong Kong SAR Government<\/b> attended the Conference as its Guest of Honour. <\/p>\n
\nprofessionalism to deliver top quality work. This Conference gathered speakers
\nto deliberate on emerging trends amidst the new normal, with the aims of
\ninspiring adaptations and changes through the adoption of new technologies and
\nnew ideas, so that surveying profession will continue to succeed. <\/p>\n
\nDevelopment (Works), Development Bureau, Hong Kong SAR Government<\/b> noted in his opening address, “We have
\nproven ourselves to be versatile, resilient and adaptive under the difficult
\ntimes of COVID-19.\u00a0 We have already paved
\nthe way for sustainable growth of the construction industry.\u00a0 With confidence and concerted efforts, I can
\nsay, we set sail beyond the “new normal” to a “new horizon”!”<\/p>\n
\n“Facilities Management”, and “Alternative Dispute Resolution”, with eight
\nindustry leaders, experts and scholars deliberated on industry trends under the
\nnew normal and explored future prospects from all-rounded and professional
\nperspectives. Speakers included Ms HO Wing Yin, Winnie, JP, Director of
\nArchitectural Services, Architectural Services Department, Hong Kong SAR
\nGovernment<\/b> deliberating on “Climate Change: Are we ready?”, Mr CHAN
\nTak-yeung, Thomas, Principal Assistant Secretary (Works), Development Bureau,
\nHong Kong SAR Government<\/b> on “Implementation of the Spirit of the
\nProposed Security of Payment Legislation in Public Works Contracts<\/b>“; and Ir
\nWAI Chi Sing, GBS, JP, FHKEng, Managing Director, Urban Renewal Authority<\/b>
\non “Digitalizing Urban Renewal<\/b>” and more. Both online and offline participants engaged in active
\ndiscussion. <\/p>\n
\nSurveying Division<\/b> mentions,
\n“Surveyors must stay ahead of time. In an ever-changing environment, we strive to upkeep the quality of
\nconstruction works by adopting novel technologies and adapting to the new
\nnormal. We vow to make contribution to the industry and Hong Kong.”<\/p>\n
