Previous collaborations&#13;<br \/>\nwith various partners are showcased through different platforms and events,&#13;<br \/>\nchronicling projects the Fund has achieved with its partners, reviewing our&#13;<br \/>\npast experiences while looking forward with an innovative mind towards future&#13;<br \/>\nchallenges, to continue support for social programmes and services, realising&#13;<br \/>\nour aim of sustainable urban renewal and the betterment of the quality of life&#13;<br \/>\nof citizens. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><u><b>Anniversary Celebration Opens with Online Exhibition on 10 Years of&#13;<br \/>\nUrban Renewal<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0&#8220;In&#13;<br \/>\nthe past ten years, the Urban Renewal Fund has worked closely with NGOs and&#13;<br \/>\ndifferent stakeholders to promote heritage preservation and district&#13;<br \/>\nrevitalisation projects in different regions within Hong Kong. The Fund has&#13;<br \/>\nalso continually served citizens living in renewal areas. With the achievement&#13;<br \/>\nof the 10-year milestone, the Fund has organised &#8216;Community is Renewing&#8217;, an&#13;<br \/>\nonline exhibition looking back at highlights of the Fund&#8217;s past projects over&#13;<br \/>\nthe past 10 years.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i>\u2014The Chairman of the Urban Renewal&#13;<br \/>\nFund&#8217;s Board of Directors, Professor Steven Ngai Sek-yum <\/i><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">The exhibition takes on four core directions:&#13;<br \/>\n&#8220;Connecting, Inheriting, Co-creating, and Integrating&#8221;, highlighting&#13;<br \/>\nprojects that are funded by URF and created by URF&#8217;s team of social workers&#13;<br \/>\nunder each service area, including projects and events aimed at creating social&#13;<br \/>\ninteractions and community building via various artistic mediums; in-depth,&#13;<br \/>\nheartfelt stories from older districts, carrying collective memories to the&#13;<br \/>\nnext generation; research and practice of local traditional handcraft,&#13;<br \/>\nrevitalising them and helping them create new, alternative value; acceleration of&#13;<br \/>\ndynamic cultural interaction, building of an inclusive society. In the past&#13;<br \/>\ndecade, URF has funded multiple communal projects, revolutionising older&#13;<br \/>\ndistricts and revitalising communities through mutual creation, community&#13;<br \/>\ndesign, local creations, and social innovation. <\/p>\n<p>Under the pandemic, the exhibition takes place online,&#13;<br \/>\nutilising interactive elements on the website such as words, videos, and motion&#13;<br \/>\ngraphics, together with an energetic design, to showcase the inner workings of&#13;<br \/>\nolder communities. Through the exhibition, the public will be able to see how&#13;<br \/>\nURF connects various NGOs and stakeholders in detail and investigate how each&#13;<br \/>\nand every project innovate and inspire the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b><u>An Abundance of Events Celebrating&#13;<br \/>\nthe First Decade, Diversifying the Scope of Recipients <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The URF fully committed itself to pushing the Urban&#13;<br \/>\nRenewal Authority and Urban Renewal Fund in the past decade. Right now, the&#13;<br \/>\namount sponsored has reached 160 million Hong Kong dollars, funding 17&#13;<br \/>\ndifferent projects which are held by NGOs and other stakeholders in conducting&#13;<br \/>\nheritage conservation and district revitalisation within urban renewal areas. Four&#13;<br \/>\nNGO Social Services Teams are also funded by URF, giving aid to the inhabitants&#13;<br \/>\nof over forty urban renewal projects conducted by the Urban Renewal Authority.&#13;<br \/>\nIn reaching the milestone of a decade, other than showcasing the fruits of the&#13;<br \/>\nFund&#8217;s work through the years, various activities are also held surrounding the&#13;<br \/>\ntheme of &#8220;Connecting Communities for Sustainable Urban Renewal: Innovations and&#13;<br \/>\nInspirations&#8221;, expanding and diversifying the scope of recipients of the Fund. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In May, URF has revamped their website and increased&#13;<br \/>\npresence on two additional social media platforms, providing timely updates on&#13;<br \/>\ninformation regarding project funding and services, nurturing the connection&#13;<br \/>\nand bond between different stakeholders and partners, interacting with the&#13;<br \/>\ngeneral public anytime and anywhere. A series of videos celebrating each of our&#13;<br \/>\npast projects and partners is released, each project is seen through the lens&#13;<br \/>\nof a participant, detailing their experiences of participating in events and&#13;<br \/>\nreceiving services from URF, leading the public to gain a deeper understanding&#13;<br \/>\nto <i>Our <\/i>community. The Fund has also organised several seminars and a&#13;<br \/>\nclosing forum for URF&#8217;s celebration of its 10-year anniversary, inviting&#13;<br \/>\nscholars and stakeholders from different fields, discussing topics in-depth&#13;<br \/>\nfrom various angles, inspiring thinking related to sustainable development. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After a decade&#8217;s worth of effort, URF has sponsored&#13;<br \/>\nmultiple community co-creation projects, such as &#8220;Our Community of Love &amp;&#13;<br \/>\nMutuality\u2014Nurturing Cultural Diversity &amp; Community Legacy in Kwai Chung&#8221;,&#13;<br \/>\n&#8220;Kengaku&#8217; Small Shop Handcraft Master Nurturing &amp; Community Revitalisation&#13;<br \/>\nProject&#8221;, &#8220;Inheriting the sense of lane: we-build the Sai Ying Pun&#8221;, &#8220;Live in&#13;<br \/>\nC&amp;W&#8221;, &#8220;REstore \u2013 Small Shop Culture Reconstruct Project&#8221;, &#8220;To Kwa Wan&#13;<br \/>\nCommunity Dining Room&#8221;, &#8220;Kowloon City Themed Walking Trail&#8221;, and more. Each&#13;<br \/>\nproject is centred around how to enhance district-wide characteristics and are&#13;<br \/>\nwelcomed with enthusiasm. In the following year, URF will continue to serve&#13;<br \/>\ncitizens, collaborating with the community to innovate policies, increase&#13;<br \/>\nresidents&#8217; sense of belonging to their communities and raise cohesion, all in&#13;<br \/>\nthe name of improving the quality of life for citizens. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>URF hopes to raise public&#13;<br \/>\nknowledge on the Fund via this series of events celebrating the 10th anniversary,&#13;<br \/>\nintegrating and increasing the strength of the collaborative relationship with&#13;<br \/>\npartners, promote knowledge and experience exchange of related organisations in&#13;<br \/>\norder to encourage more NGOs to utilise URF to serve and unite the community,&#13;<br \/>\nand to ensure future support for community development and service users,&#13;<br \/>\nultimately contributing to the betterment of communities in Hong Kong.<b><u\/><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><u>Annex 1: Introduction to the latest phase of the Urban Renewal&#13;<br \/>\nHeritage Conservation and District Revitalization Funding Scheme<\/u><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>1. <b>Via North Point, A place for Imagination. A place for belonging<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Corporation:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i>Hong Kong Arts Centre<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Brief description of the plan:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Via North Point&#8221; aims to inspire community residents to&#13;<br \/>\nthink about and design the future use of public space as a vision, hoping to&#13;<br \/>\nbring changes to the community and improve the quality of life of residents.<\/p>\n<p>The Hong Kong Arts Centre will work hand in hand with cross-sector&#13;<br \/>\nindividuals and organizations to design a series of community participation&#13;<br \/>\nworkshops and creative art works to connect new and old residents, enhance&#13;<br \/>\nresidents&#8217; awareness of public spaces, and showcase the unique local charm of&#13;<br \/>\nNorth Point. The aim is to create a sense of community belonging and cultivate&#13;<br \/>\ncultural citizenship and spontaneous community building through imagination.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i>2. <b>South \u2013 The Heritage and Communities Arts Project<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Corporation:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i>The Warehouse Teenage Club<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Brief description of the plan:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Preserving and promoting the South side and its unique historical&#13;<br \/>\ncultural significance and community features of the Southern District through&#13;<br \/>\nmultiple cultural activities. <\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the project is to create an artistic and cultural space&#13;<br \/>\nthat is a symbolic of the rich region and build a collaborative, self-reliant&#13;<br \/>\ncommunity. <\/p>\n<p>Through a series of programmes including community study, guided&#13;<br \/>\ntours, community arts events and thematic exhibitions, we aspire to transform&#13;<br \/>\nthe district into an arts and cultural hub by revealing its unique characters,&#13;<br \/>\nand revitalize the community by strengthening its local neighbourhood network.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>3. <b>Our Community of Love &amp; Mutuality \u2013 Nurturing Cultural&#13;<br \/>\nDiversity &amp; Community Legacy in Kwai Chung<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Corporation:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>HKSKH Lady MacLehose Centre<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Brief description of the plan:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Kwai Chung was built on the hillside, the public staircase is the&#13;<br \/>\nmajor carrier of the pedestrian flow in the district. Its &#8220;numerous, long and&#13;<br \/>\nsteepness&#8221; characteristics have always been criticized by the community. In&#13;<br \/>\nview of this, the third phase of the project is to renew and revitalise the&#13;<br \/>\npublic staircase in Kwai Chung. Based on our experience in the past four years,&#13;<br \/>\nwe aim to extend the district renewal model of Kung Yung Koon and &#8220;Ping&#13;<br \/>\nLai Plus&#8221; projects to the staircases of Kwai Chung, to catalyse the&#13;<br \/>\ncommunity&#8217;s ability to turn disadvantages into advantages. As the heart of the&#13;<br \/>\nproject, Kung Yung Koon and Ping Lai Path will turn the manpower mobilization&#13;<br \/>\nand resources into the energy of the community. They will be transported&#13;<br \/>\nthrough the staircases, like blood vessels, to all parts of Kwai Chung,&#13;<br \/>\nenhancing the mutual communication between Chinese and South Asian low-income&#13;<br \/>\nneighbourhoods, enriching the landscape of Kwai Chung and bringing back the&#13;<br \/>\npower to Kung Yung Koon and Ping Lai Path as a loop.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i>3. <b>Kowloon City Themed Walking Trail<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Corporation:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>HKSKH Welfare Council Limited<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Brief description of the plan:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Kowloon City is a diverse community full of different histories,&#13;<br \/>\ncultures, attractions and specialty shops. <\/p>\n<p>Potentially the longest in Hong Kong, the planned themed walking trail&#13;<br \/>\nwill be 6.5 kilometres, divided into five different characteristic road&#13;<br \/>\nsections. The goal is to promote the preservation of historical and cultural&#13;<br \/>\nrelics and the promotion of art and culture by connecting local residents and&#13;<br \/>\nstakeholders in the district.
