\nmanufacturer and innovator has partnered with Japanese architect Kengo Kuma<\/b>
\nto create Bamboo (<\/b>\u7af9<\/b>) Ring :|| Weaving a
\nSymphony of Lightness and Form<\/b>. The multi-sensory installation
\nworks to the theme “Creative Connections” by fusing Architecture with Music,
\ndesign innovation, technological prowess, and user experience to create a sense
\nof time and space, and will be on display in Milan’s Cortile dei Bagni

\nWeaving a Symphony of Lightness and Form by OPPO x Kengo Kuma<\/i><\/p>\n
\nis an evolution of Kengo Kuma and OPPO’s Bamboo Ring exhibition which debuted
\nat the 2019 edition of the London Design Festival and explored the harmonious
\nrelationship between humans and nature through the envisioning of lightweight yet
\nstrong structures made with bamboo and carbon fiber. This year, OPPO’s
\nexperiential installation uses pioneering technology to engage all the senses
\nthrough a series of orchestral scores composed by Japanese violinist Midori
\nKomachi with Musicity.<\/p>\n
\nbased on the cycle of seasons and moves through the structure encouraging the
\npublic to walk around and be captured by its aural narrative. The changing
\nsoundscapes integrate the sound of Midori’s violin (built in Milan in 1920 and
\nenhanced with carbon fiber itself) from O Relax<\/b>, OPPO’s digital
\nwellbeing application that offers comforting nature and city sounds to relax
\nyour mind taken from locations around the globe including Reykjavik, Beijing,
\nand Tokyo.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nhuman-centric brand, our focus is on innovating for the people. We are
\ndelighted to partner with Kengo Kuma again, an architect who is known for
\nseamlessly integrating nature and culture. Together, we demonstrate how we can
\nuse technology and design to add value to our daily lives drawing on our
\nphilosophy principles of “Technology as an Art Form” and\u00a0 our

\nwoven structure \u2013 crafted from rings of bamboo and carbon fiber \u2013 becomes a
\nmusical instrument as music travels through it via structural sound
\ntechnologies originating from OPPO London Design Centre’s research. Innovative
\ntechnology including new haptic motors, MEMS speaker strips, and exciters work
\ntogether to produce an immersive base and higher frequencies which reverberate
\nthe bamboo with Violin’s vibrato and the effect of a percussion instrument.<\/i><\/p>\n
\narchitecture, I’m interested in designing the rhythm and the tone rather than
\nthe silhouette, and contemporary music gives us many lessons about how to
\ncreate new rhythms and tones in architecture. This pavilion is one of the
\nexplorations into the new rhythms and tones in architecture combining visual
\nand acoustic experiences of the visitors.” \u2013<\/i> Kengo Kuma,

\nWeek, OPPO will donate Bamboo Ring to Arte Sella Park in Trentino, Italy, a
\ncontemporary art museum with outdoor exhibits made from natural materials and
\nbackdropped by the mountainous Sella Valley, where it will find its permanent
\nhome.<\/p>\n
