The multi-sensory installation<br \/>\nworks to the theme &#8220;Creative Connections&#8221; by fusing Architecture with Music,<br \/>\ndesign innovation, technological prowess, and user experience to create a sense<br \/>\nof time and space, and will be on display in Milan&#8217;s Cortile dei Bagni<br \/>\ncourtyard for the duration of Milan Design Week, until 19 September.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img src=\"https:\/\/release.media-outreach.com\/release.php\/Images\/Thumb\/500x0\/174363\/OPPO-milan-image.jpg#image-174363\" width=\"500\"\/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><i>Bamboo (<\/i><i>\u7af9<\/i><i>) Ring :||\u00a0<br \/>\nWeaving a Symphony of Lightness and Form by OPPO x Kengo Kuma<\/i><\/p>\n<p>This landmark project<br \/>\nis an evolution of Kengo Kuma and OPPO&#8217;s Bamboo Ring exhibition which debuted<br \/>\nat the 2019 edition of the London Design Festival and explored the harmonious<br \/>\nrelationship between humans and nature through the envisioning of lightweight yet<br \/>\nstrong structures made with bamboo and carbon fiber. This year, OPPO&#8217;s<br \/>\nexperiential installation uses pioneering technology to engage all the senses<br \/>\nthrough a series of orchestral scores composed by Japanese violinist Midori<br \/>\nKomachi with Musicity.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The composition is<br \/>\nbased on the cycle of seasons and moves through the structure encouraging the<br \/>\npublic to walk around and be captured by its aural narrative. The changing<br \/>\nsoundscapes integrate the sound of Midori&#8217;s violin (built in Milan in 1920 and<br \/>\nenhanced with carbon fiber itself) from <b>O Relax<\/b>, OPPO&#8217;s digital<br \/>\nwellbeing application that offers comforting nature and city sounds to relax<br \/>\nyour mind taken from locations around the globe including Reykjavik, Beijing,<br \/>\nand Tokyo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;OPPO is a<br \/>\nhuman-centric brand, our focus is on innovating for the people. We are<br \/>\ndelighted to partner with Kengo Kuma again, an architect who is known for<br \/>\nseamlessly integrating nature and culture. Together, we demonstrate how we can<br \/>\nuse technology and design to add value to our daily lives drawing on our<br \/>\nphilosophy principles of &#8220;Technology as an Art Form&#8221; and\u00a0 our<br \/>\nbrand mission &#8220;Technology for Mankind, Being Kind to the World.&#8221; \u2013 <\/i><b>Jintong Zhu, Head of<br \/>\nOPPO London Design Centre<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The installation&#8217;s<br \/>\nwoven structure \u2013 crafted from rings of bamboo and carbon fiber \u2013 becomes a<br \/>\nmusical instrument as <i>music travels through it via structural sound<br \/>\ntechnologies originating from OPPO London Design Centre&#8217;s research. Innovative<br \/>\ntechnology including new haptic motors, MEMS speaker strips, and exciters work<br \/>\ntogether to produce an immersive base and higher frequencies which reverberate<br \/>\nthe bamboo with Violin&#8217;s vibrato and the effect of a percussion instrument.<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;When I design<br \/>\narchitecture, I&#8217;m interested in designing the rhythm and the tone rather than<br \/>\nthe silhouette, and contemporary music gives us many lessons about how to<br \/>\ncreate new rhythms and tones in architecture.
