\nconvene from 4 to 7 November with the theme of “Building Blocks of a
\nRegenerative Future”<\/b> to discuss how to leverage the strengths of different sectors and
\nbring social innovation forward during the post-pandemic era. <\/b>The
\nfour-day
\nannual International Symposium is a flagship event that features a mix of face-to-face
\ndiscussion panels, online meetings, workshops and networking events, with 60+
\ntop international and local speakers to come up with inspiring and innovative
\nsolutions that could tackle existing social challenges.<\/p>\n

The Launch Ceremony
\nof SES 2021 kicked off with a lighting ceremony, that symbolised stakeholders
\nfrom different sectors joining hands to build a brighter future. The ceremony was officiated
\nby Mr. Jack Chan, Acting Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr. James Law, Founder
\nof Cybertecture Architects and designer of Tsuen Wan Water Pipe Homes. The event also featured
\nthe thematic dialogue between Mr. James Law and Ms.
\nCora Chu, CEO of Dialogue in the Dark (HK) Foundation on how to address the
\nchallenges posed by COVID-19 and solution adapted by different sectors. <\/p>\n

Mrs.
\nRebecca Choy Yung, Chair of Social Enterprise Summit Organizing Committee remarked, “The ‘Sustainable development’ concept alone is not sufficient
\nto solve such global crisis
\nas climate change, therefore the
\nidea of ‘ A Regenerative future’, that shifts the paradigm of pursuing market growth
\nto ecological prosperity and focuses on the wellbeing of the planet Earth and the
\nsociety. We shall continue our commitment to social innovation by focusing on dialogues
\nabout international connectivity and resources integration to explore the
\npotential among different kinds of social innovation design.”<\/p>\n

At the
\nthematic dialogue about “Building Blocks of a Regenerative Future”, Mr. James
\nLaw, and Ms. Cora Chu, shared their journeys of running their business under
\nthe challenge of the pandemic as well as the experience of collaborating with the
\nbusiness community. The speakers also shared how to bring global market
\nexperience and local creativities together when introducing foreign social
\nenterprise brands to Hong Kong.<\/p>\n

The
\nbrand new “Fund Dating” session took place after the launch ceremony. Representatives
\nof 10 social enterprises and 6 investors were invited to collaborate, communicate
\nand build trust through a series of interactive experiences in a dark and
\nsoundless environment, so as to explore possibility of innovations and tackle
\nchallenges together.<\/p>\n

\nbeen facing unprecedented challenges during the past two years. SES 2021 connects speakers
\nfrom various sectors, including social entrepreneurs, policy makers, young
\ngenerations and business of International Symposium. The
\nkeynote speaker Mr. Charles Eisenstein,
\nAuthor of “Sacred Economics: Money, Gift, and Society in the
\nAge of Transition” from the USA, will discuss with participants on how
\ncorporations connect with a regenerative future, as well as the significance of
\n“environment, society and corporate governance”.<\/p>\n

\nDirector and Head of Sustainable Investing and ESG Consulting, Ogier Global; Ms.
\nAmy Wu, Executive Director and Head, Group Strategic Marketing and
\nCommunications, DBS Bank (HK); Mr. CY Chan, Co-Owner & Chief Talent and
\nPurpose Officer, Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited; Ms. Ada Yip, CEO, Urban

\nbelieves design and technology can alleviate mankind’s suffering and build a

\nEconomics” and “The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know is Possible”. He
\nwrites on themes of culture, technology, money, consciousness, and ecology. His
\nbackground includes a degree in mathematics and philosophy from Yale
\nUniversity, and nine years living in Taiwan where he worked as a translator. He
\ncurrently lives with his family in Rhode Island, USA. <\/p>\n

\nYUEN Shu Wah

\nFounding Chairman, Gratia Foundation Limited, HK<\/b><\/p>\n

Despite the initial desire to be a professional chemist
\nsince his graduation in 1972 from HKU, Mr YUEN turned out to be an
\nentrepreneur, philanthropist, founder of Children Homes in China and
\nBangladesh, ecologist involved in anti-desertification in Tengger Desert and
\nfounder of Gratia Christian College which focus at educating university
\nstudents with servant leader aspiration.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ms Amy Wu is Executive

\n(Hong Kong). Before joining DBS, she was Lead of Pay TV Marketing under PCCW
\nMedia Group, managing customer portfolio, optimizing subscription revenue,
\nbuilding brand preference and driving engagement through all marketing channels
\nfor both the broadband TV and OTT services, namely Now TV and Now E.<\/p>\n

She took on various
\nleadership roles at Nike for 10 years, including HK Territory General Manager and

Mr
\nManfred Yuen founded Groundwork Architects & Associates in 2011, hoping to
\nimprove the living environment of Hong Kong. Groundwork was later joined by CY
\nLau and Fiona Bao as the practice expanded into Southern China.In 2018, he co-founded
\nGroundwork Shenzhen: a research arm of Groundwork that focuses on children play
\nspaces and school designs.<\/p>\n

He
\nwas invited to be one of the speakers in 2019 at TEDx, Shenzhen, where he
\nadvocated humanistic and social responsibilities of architects.<\/p>\n
