Each&#13;<br \/>\nfamily will receive a meal for five persons sponsored by The Social Kitchen and&#13;<br \/>\ndelivered by DADs for Life volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Research has shown that children&#13;<br \/>\nwho eat with their parents thrive emotionally, socially and academically.&#13;<br \/>\nDuring this challenging COVID-19 season, many families have to put in more&#13;<br \/>\neffort to juggle between making a living and caring for their loved ones and&#13;<br \/>\nmay not be able to deliberately put aside time for family bonding. We hope this&#13;<br \/>\nmeal delivery will provide them with an opportunity to eat together and catch&#13;<br \/>\nup with each other,&#8221; said Mr Bryan Tan, CEO of Centre for Fathering, DADs for&#13;<br \/>\nLife and MUMs for Life.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Eat With Your Family Day kickstarts&#13;<br \/>\nFamilies for Life&#8217;s (FFL) My Family Weekend in September every year. We hope&#13;<br \/>\nthat while employers allow their staff to knock off from work at 5pm that day,&#13;<br \/>\nemployees will also make the conscious decision to choose family time and have&#13;<br \/>\ndinner with their families. They can also tune in to FFL&#8217;s Facebook live after&#13;<br \/>\ndinner, where there will be fun games to entertain the whole family. Family&#13;<br \/>\ntime extends to the weekend and families can check out FFL&#8217;s website for&#13;<br \/>\nactivities organised by our partners. We hope that through these activities,&#13;<br \/>\nfamilies make it a habit to carve out regular family time amidst their busy&#13;<br \/>\nschedules&#8221;, shared&#13;<br \/>\nFamilies for Life Council Chairman, Mr Ishak Ismail.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><b>Device-free family times<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>As companies&#13;<br \/>\nacross the world request for employees to work from home in response to COVID-19,&#13;<br \/>\nmany employees may feel like they are living their life almost exclusively&#13;<br \/>\nthrough the screen. After working on a computer all day, they could still be on&#13;<br \/>\ntheir devices \u2013 catching up with friends over Zoom, watching dramas or&#13;<br \/>\nscrolling through social media feeds. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>As the lines&#13;<br \/>\nbetween work hours and time at home are increasingly blurred, it is important&#13;<br \/>\nfor families to be intentional about the time they spend on devices and&#13;<br \/>\nschedule screen-free breaks when they move away from the computers and phones&#13;<br \/>\nand be present with each other. EWYFD offers an opportunity for families to get&#13;<br \/>\ntogether to bond over a meal and some fun after-dinner activities organised by&#13;<br \/>\nFamilies for Life for My Family Weekend on 3 September 2021. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the last year and a half of the pandemic, our devices&#13;<br \/>\nhave been our primary connection to our family, friends and the outside world.&#13;<br \/>\nMany of us, children and parents alike, have found ourselves increasing our&#13;<br \/>\nscreen time usage, sometimes to the detriment of our health and relationships.&#13;<br \/>\nThrough EWYFD, we hope families will take time off screens, to disconnect in&#13;<br \/>\norder to connect, and enjoy family bonding over a meal. Let&#8217;s put down our&#13;<br \/>\ndevices and make meal time, family time.&#8221; said Mr Lock Wai Han, Chairman of the&#13;<br \/>\nMedia Literacy Council.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><b>About EWYFD<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">EWYFD was launched in&#13;<br \/>\n2003 by Centre for Fathering to encourage organisations to arrange for&#13;<br \/>\nemployees to leave work at 5pm so that they can eat with their families. The&#13;<br \/>\ninitiative also aims to remind parents to put aside time to eat with their&#13;<br \/>\nchildren regularly. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">Held on the last Friday&#13;<br \/>\nof each school term, the dates for EWYFD 2021 are 12 March, 28 May, 3 September&#13;<br \/>\nand 19 November.
