These disruptions and capacity chokeholds, together with different&#13;<br \/>\ngovernment approaches and restrictions in tackling the pandemic, have compelled&#13;<br \/>\nthe logistics industry to move towards a growing focus on service&#13;<br \/>\ncustomisation. Leveraging our core competency in providing highly customised&#13;<br \/>\nsolutions, KLN Group capitalised on the opportunities in this new environment&#13;<br \/>\nand achieved record growth in both revenue and core net profit in 2021 1H.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><b>IL Grew <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>The IL business reported a 13% segment profit growth, mainly&#13;<br \/>\nriding on a booming manufacturing sector in Mainland China. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>In Hong Kong, the warehousing business grew 18% backed by a higher&#13;<br \/>\noccupancy. The logistics operations business increased by 9% as the pandemic&#13;<br \/>\nremained largely under control since 2021 Q2.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>In Mainland China, the IL business continued its rebound in 2021&#13;<br \/>\n1H, expanding by 82% year-on-year in segment profit. This was supported by the&#13;<br \/>\naccelerated resumption of production, revived domestic consumption and thriving&#13;<br \/>\nonline shopping.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>In Taiwan, the segment profit for the IL division maintained&#13;<br \/>\nstable with a 5% growth.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>In Asia, the IL division suffered a drop of 12% in segment profit&#13;<br \/>\nas the pandemic continued to rumble across the region with prolonged lockdowns,&#13;<br \/>\nrestrictions and quarantine measures. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><b>IFF Thrived<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>The&#13;<br \/>\nIFF business recorded a 279% segment profit growth in 2021 1H, mainly riding on&#13;<br \/>\nthe change in consumer behaviour and strong exports from Mainland China to the&#13;<br \/>\nworld. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>The&#13;<br \/>\nIFF business is experiencing a rapidly changing market and the Group is&#13;<br \/>\nadjusting its strategy on a monthly basis depending on the development of&#13;<br \/>\nCOVID-19 pandemic, as well as unpredictable events.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>The air freight sector continued to operate&#13;<br \/>\nwith scarce international belly cargo capacity provided by passenger aircraft,&#13;<br \/>\nprompting the market to rely on freighters of limited space, which resulted in&#13;<br \/>\nserious fluctuation in air freight capacity and rates. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>In the ocean&#13;<br \/>\nfreight sector, congestion in destination ports has caused severe delays to&#13;<br \/>\nvessel turnaround time and exacerbated the container equipment shortage in&#13;<br \/>\nAsia. Currently, there are still huge backlogs in Mainland China where plenty&#13;<br \/>\nof cargo vessels destined for the Americas and Europe were cancelled or&#13;<br \/>\ndelayed.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><b>Proposed Strategic Investment from S.F. Holding<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Upon&#13;<br \/>\nthe completion of S.F. Holding&#8217;s investment in the Group, the Group&#8217;s profit&#13;<br \/>\nwill have a significant adjustment in light of the disposal of the Hong Kong&#13;<br \/>\nwarehouse and the Taiwan businesses to Kerry Holdings Limited.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>The&#13;<br \/>\ncooperation will bring together the core competencies of S.F.
