\n–\u00a0Mainland Chinese businesses were strong performers in technology adoption and innovation over
\nthe past year, according to one of the world’s largest professional accounting
\nbodies, CPA Australia<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\nAmong surveyed markets, they were the
\nmost likely to use artificial intelligence (AI), business intelligence (BI)
\nsoftware, customer relationship management (CRM) software, data analytics and
\nvisualisation software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software in the
\npast 12 months. The survey also found that high growth businesses are much more
\nlikely to use these technologies than other businesses.<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\nFurther, 96 per cent of surveyed respondents
\nreported that their employers undertook at least one technology-related project
\nin the past 12 months, the highest among all surveyed markets.<\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\nCPA Australia surveyed 725
\nprofessionals in different industries from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau,
\nSingapore, Malaysia and Australia. The survey results
\nare included in CPA Australia’s Businesses Technology Report 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n“It’s very positive to see that Mainland
\nChinese businesses are leading usage in almost all these technologies,” said
\nTony Chan, Deputy President of CPA Australia’s South China Committee, “We are glad to see Mainland
\nChinese businesses have undertaken various technology-related projects. <\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n“There is a connection between
\ntechnology usage and business performance. Their strong focus on
\ndigitalisation and innovation will enable Mainland Chinese
\nbusinesses to not only keep pace with new technology trends, but also to lead
\nthem,” Chan said.<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n“With Mainland China’s 14th Five-Year Plan
\nidentifying innovation and technology as a core national priority, combined
\nwith favourable policies announced by the central and local governments as well
\nas the rapid deployment of 5G technology, we are confident this positive trend will continue,” Chan said.<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\nNinety-one per cent of Mainland Chinese respondents expect their
\nemployers to increase investment in or use of various technologies in the
\ncoming 12 months. Data analytics and visualisation software, cloud technology,
\nBI software and AI are the technologies that Mainland Chinese businesses will
\nmost likely increase investment in or use of in the next 12 months.<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\nAlthough strong technology adoption has
\nbrought many benefits, it’s not without its challenges. According to the survey,
\nrespondents from Mainland China were the most likely of the markets surveyed to
\nidentify cybersecurity concerns as a key barrier to business technology
\nadoption.<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n“The survey findings show that
\nMainland Chinese companies are more likely to adopt and invest in advanced
\ntechnologies such as AI and BI software that rely heavily on data. It’s therefore
\nnot surprising that 41 per cent of Mainland Chinese respondents nominated
\ncybersecurity concerns as a major challenge to business technology adoption,”
\nsaid Wilson Feng, Member of CPA Australia’s East and Central China Committee.<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n“The data reveals that Mainland Chinese
\nbusinesses are taking action to meet this challenge. Forty-seven per cent of
\nsurveyed respondents from Mainland China reported that their employers had
\nincreased investment in cybersecurity software in the past 12 months.
\nTwenty-eight per cent expect their employers to increase investment in
\ncybersecurity software in the next 12 months,” Feng said.<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n“It is essential that digital transformation and risks mitigation go
\nhand in hand. Businesses should also plan and execute strategies that manage
\npotential risks to their network, data and technology tools to ensure that the
\norganisation is safeguarded from threats.” Feng said.<\/p>\n

\ntechnology talent.<\/li>\n - Keep abreast of emerging technologies and
\nutilise big data to keep improving business operations and increase international
\ncompetitiveness<\/li>\n - Review compliance with cybersecurity and relevant
\ndata security laws and policies in Mainland China.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n - Commit appropriate resources to raising
