\nJune 2021 – The results of ESG
\nAchievement Awards 2020 were announced and presented at the inaugural awards
\nceremony today (29 June 2021) at the Hong Kong Productivity Council. \u00a0The Awards
\nrecognises Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) achievements in all
\nindustry sectors through 36 companies and 2 individuals.<\/p>\n


\n <\/p>\n

The ESG Achievement Awards<\/b> was founded by the Institute
\nof ESG & Benchmark (IESGB)<\/b> in year 2020 and with the support from Hang
\nSeng Indexes Company Limited as Honoary Supporting Organization. It aims to
\nrecognise local companies for their progress in ESG and serve a larger focus to
\ngarner all of the best ESG practitioners to set Hong Kong’s sustainability
\ndevelopment benchmark across several industries.<\/p>\n


\n <\/p>\n

Mr Paul Pong, Co-Founder of IESGB<\/b>,
\nstates “the Awards is an answer to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s requirement for
\na listed company’s ESG disclosure. And while this is a great step to the right
\ndirection, Hong Kong needs to catch up with and surpass its Western
\ncounterparts by building awareness, education and building a benchmark of best
\nESG-related practices”.<\/p>\n


\n <\/p>\n

Mr Joseph H. L. CHAN, JP, Under Secretary for
\nFinancial Services and the Treasury joined the award presentation ceremony as
\nguest of honour, accompanied by Dr CHAN Pak Li, Bernard, JP, Under Secretary
\nfor Commerce and Economic Development as officiating guest. Mr Joseph H. L.
\nCHAN, JP, states<\/b>, “ESG is indeed one of the current Administration’s key
\npolicy priorities, and we have rolled out a series of measures to develop ESG
\nin Hong Kong”.<\/p>\n


\n <\/p>\n

The Awards sees companies within the developer and construction
\nindustry<\/b> to be the most advanced in their sustainable development. Few Hong
\nKong’s most prominent developers won the Diamond and Winner Awards trophies,
\nincluding Henderson Land Development Company Limited, New World Development
\nLimited, Sino Group and Chinachem Group<\/b>. The award acknowledged their
\nachievement as the ESG Leader and
\nOutstanding Performer. Mr Pong continues, “to adopt the ESG practice is more
\nthan saving paper and electricity in your daily life.<\/p>\n

We are looking forward the companies to adopting the
\nESG practice in their business nature.”<\/p>\n

The awards categorises its winners from listed
\ncompanies, privately owned companies, NGOs, and SMEs. And it boasts a
\ncomprehensive line-up of jurors from varying industries, with Head Juror, Mr
