The company&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/semiconductors.teledyneimaging.com\/en\/products\/data-converters\/ev12aq600\/\">EV12AQ600<\/a>\u00a0has&#13;<br \/>\njust been confirmed as the industry&#8217;s first 4-channel analog-to-digital&#13;<br \/>\nconverter (ADC) to be qualified for space deployment.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img src=\"https:\/\/release.media-outreach.com\/release.php\/Images\/Thumb\/500x0\/157333\/EV12AQ600.jpg#image-157333\" width=\"500\"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Subjected to comprehensive testing, the EV12AQ600 has shown that&#13;<br \/>\nit can withstand a total ionizing dose (TID) of 150kRad. Those results, TID and&#13;<br \/>\nSEE, prove that this device is a perfect fit for space applications like&#13;<br \/>\nlong-term missions or GEO satellites. In addition, the ADC had to endure&#13;<br \/>\nmulti-axis mechanical shock and vibration tests, plus electro-static discharge&#13;<br \/>\n(ESD), extreme temperature and thermal cycling test procedures. Having&#13;<br \/>\nsuccessfully passed all of the tests described, it now meets NASA and ESA&#13;<br \/>\nrequirements, complying with the stringent MIL-PRF-38535 (QML-Y) and ESCC 9000&#13;<br \/>\nstandards.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Teledyne e2v&#8217;s EV12AQ600 series devices are already employed in&#13;<br \/>\nnumerous mission-critical military and avionics applications, and space&#13;<br \/>\nqualification will open up many new opportunities for their usage. These 12-bit&#13;<br \/>\nADCs support 1.6GSps data sampling rates on each of their channels, or 6.4GSps&#13;<br \/>\nacross a single channel when interleaved. Detailed studies have shown that they&#13;<br \/>\ndo not exhibit the poor interface stability witnessed on devices from other ADC&#13;<br \/>\nmanufacturers when placed into a space environment. Consequently, customers can&#13;<br \/>\nhave full confidence in their long-term operation once they have been deployed&#13;<br \/>\nthere.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>As well as the leading-edge performance and operational&#13;<br \/>\nrobustness achieved by the EV12AQ600, this ADC has certain other attributes&#13;<br \/>\nthat will be beneficial for space applications. Thanks to the cross-point&#13;<br \/>\nswitch which is situated after the inputs, this device is much more versatile&#13;<br \/>\nthan other solutions. The ADC can easily be reconfigured remotely, once the&#13;<br \/>\nhardware it has been incorporated into is in orbit. The number of channels, the&#13;<br \/>\nbit rate and the dynamic range can all be altered via the accompanying FPGA \u2013&#13;<br \/>\nso that new functional requirements can be attended to. This inherent&#13;<br \/>\nflexibility also facilitates design re-use, with engineers able to follow a&#13;<br \/>\nplatform-based strategy where the original system can be subsequently adapted&#13;<br \/>\nto suit different application criteria. Consequently, development times can be&#13;<br \/>\naccelerated significantly, with less engineering resources being required. A&#13;<br \/>\ncomprehensive collection of FPGA libraries are available to further assist with&#13;<br \/>\nproject development work, leveraging Teledyne e2v&#8217;s inclusion in the Xilinx&#13;<br \/>\necosystem (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.xilinx.com\/publications\/product-briefs\/partner\/teledyne-e2v-product-brief.pdf\">XQRKU060<\/a>)&#13;<br \/>\nfor space implementations.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Through our space-qualified EV12AQ600 devices, we are able to&#13;<br \/>\noffer customers high-performance data converter solutions that are ready to&#13;<br \/>\nintegrate directly into their systems,&#8221; explains Nicolas Chantier, Marketing&#13;<br \/>\nDirector at Teledyne e2v. &#8220;It means that they can benefit from flight-proven&#13;<br \/>\nTRL9 technology, without the need for any further qualification effort.&#8221; &#8220;Also,&#13;<br \/>\nwith inventory now available, there are much shorter lead times associated with&#13;<br \/>\nthese ADCs than competing solutions currently on the market.
