The seminar also&#13;<br \/>\nfeatured sharing by company executives and HR experts on future trends at work and&#13;<br \/>\nthe importance of FutureSkills.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img src=\"https:\/\/release.media-outreach.com\/release.php\/Images\/Thumb\/500x0\/153727\/FutureSkills-1.jpg#image-153727\" width=\"500\"\/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"text-align: center\">HKPC&#8217;s &#8220;Future of Work &amp; Tech Experience Day&#8221; was kicked off by Mr Mohamed Butt, Executive Director of HKPC (centre), Dr Lawrence Cheung, Chief Innovation Officer of HKPC (forth from left), Ms Eliza Ng, Chief People and Culture Officer of HKPC (fifth from right), Ms Karen Fung, General Manager, InnoPrenuer (SME &amp; Startup Growth) and FutureSkills of HKPC (third from left) and various executives and HR experts in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Also, at the event&#8217;s &#8220;Experience Zones&#8221;,&#13;<br \/>\nparticipants were able to acquire first-hand experience on the efforts of HKPC&#13;<br \/>\nAcademy of HKPC to combine technologies such as drones, robots, e-sport and&#13;<br \/>\nvirtual reality with creativity and team spirit for inclusion in the training content&#13;<br \/>\nso as to enhance the FutureSkills of the trainees, equipping them for the&#13;<br \/>\nfuture.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>The event also announced the results of &#8220;The Future of Work&#13;<br \/>\n&amp; Skills Survey&#8221;. Jointly conducted by HKPC and Quokka HR between April and&#13;<br \/>\nMay this year to explore the difficulties for Hong Kong enterprises to&#13;<br \/>\nimplement remote work, the Survey interviewed over local 600 employers and&#13;<br \/>\nemployees online with the following results:<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><u>Employers<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>81% of employers&#13;<br \/>\nthink hybrid work is feasible in the future while 62% of them have plans to&#13;<br \/>\nimplement it permanently;<\/li>\n<li>Most of the respondents feel&#13;<br \/>\nthat hybrid work would increase work arrangement flexibility and develop a&#13;<br \/>\nflexible hiring strategy, as well as reduce company cost;<\/li>\n<li>Nearly 90% of employers would include basic IT knowledge and digital&#13;<br \/>\nskills as a &#8220;must&#8221; requirement in job hiring;<\/li>\n<li>Only 31% of employers think their workforce are&#13;<br \/>\nequipped with the skill sets to fully adapt to the new normal;<\/li>\n<li>56% of employers are willing to provide IT and digital&#13;<br \/>\nrelated trainings for their staff<\/li>\n<li>Employers cited team communications, management and motivation as the top&#13;<br \/>\nthree challenges in hybrid work*;<\/li>\n<li>Top three IT challenges: risks of data security (58%), lack of internal IT professionals (37%) and proper&#13;<br \/>\nIT infrastructure (34%)*<\/li>\n<li>Top five digital skills gap: big data, cloud&#13;<br \/>\ncomputing, artificial intelligence, digital marketing and eCommerce*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><u>Employees<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>93% of respondents believe hybrid work is feasible; 72% prefer it to be their&#13;<br \/>\nfuture mode of work;<\/li>\n<li>Most of the respondents believe that hybrid work is a way to achieve&#13;<br \/>\nwork-life balance and half of them feel it can facilitate better&#13;<br \/>\ntime-management and cost saving*;<\/li>\n<li>Respondents in general said teamwork, homeworking and network&#13;<br \/>\nconnectivity will be their three challenges in hybrid work*;<\/li>\n<li>To cope with the new normal, 82% of employee respondents say they will&#13;<br \/>\nneed to upgrade their IT knowledge and digital skills such as artificial&#13;<br \/>\nintelligence, big data, cloud technology, etc.<\/li>\n<li>83% expect their employers to arrange the relevant trainings in order to&#13;<br \/>\nenhance productivity and competitiveness;<\/li>\n<li>70% of employees would have remote\/hybrid work as an important factor&#13;<br \/>\nfor consideration for their future work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>* Can choose more than one option<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Taking all&#13;<br \/>\nthese into account, the Survey showed that most of the employers and employees&#13;<br \/>\npolled would prefer hybrid work, similar to the results of other surveys of the&#13;<br \/>\nsame nature conducted under COVID-19. As remote work and hybrid work are new&#13;<br \/>\ntrends during and post-pandemic, they are posing an unprecedented challenge for&#13;<br \/>\nHong Kong enterprises and their employees. Enterprises will need to strengthen&#13;<br \/>\nIT infrastructure and staff training to achieve higher productivity and&#13;<br \/>\ncompetitiveness.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>HKPC always&#13;<br \/>\nstrives to provide support for enterprises to embark on the journey of&#13;<br \/>\ninnovation and transformation. It organises various courses on FutureSkills&#13;<br \/>\ndevelopment to strengthen the talent pool, enabling enterprises to grasp the&#13;<br \/>\nlatest digital and STEM technologies to enhance enterprise skills and market&#13;<br \/>\ncompetitiveness. The Survey reported that 82% of employees felt the need to&#13;<br \/>\nupgrade their IT knowledge and digital skills, with 83% wishing their employers&#13;<br \/>\nto arrange the relevant trainings. HKPC Academy will organise more related&#13;<br \/>\ncourses for enterprises and staff to better &#8220;equip for the future&#8221; under the&#13;<br \/>\npost-pandemic new normal.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Also, nearly&#13;<br \/>\n60% of employers demanded technical support for data security risks. To address&#13;<br \/>\nthe potential data leakages and cyber security vulnerabilities, the Hong Kong&#13;<br \/>\nComputer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre (HKCERT) of HKPC regularly&#13;<br \/>\norganises cyber security seminars and releases educational videos to remind&#13;<br \/>\nenterprises of the correct application of cloud and Internet of Things technologies to guard against cyber attacks. In&#13;<br \/>\nthe future, it will be more proactive in working for the cyber security of Hong&#13;<br \/>\nKong enterprises and their employees. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Mr Mohamed&#13;<br \/>\nButt, Executive Director of HKPC, said, &#8220;The pandemic has accelerated the&#13;<br \/>\ndigital transformation of enterprises around the world. With remote operation&#13;<br \/>\nand work becoming a trend under the new normal, many Hong Kong enterprises are&#13;<br \/>\nfacing unprecedented challenges. More and more of them are aware of the&#13;<br \/>\nimportance of &#8216;equipping for the future with FutureSkills&#8217; to enhance digital&#13;<br \/>\nskills and industry knowledge to cope with the new future trend at work. In&#13;<br \/>\nterms of nurturing of talents, HKPC has been sparing no effort. HKPC Academy is&#13;<br \/>\nproviding various courses on FutureSkills development to strengthen the local&#13;<br \/>\ntalent pool, helping enterprises and workers understand the latest digital and&#13;<br \/>\nSTEM technologies while enhancing company skills and market competitiveness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Ms Eliza Ng,&#13;<br \/>\nChief People and Culture Officer of HKPC, said, &#8220;HKPC attaches great importance&#13;<br \/>\nto staff training and offers training subsidies to encourage staff to achieve&#13;<br \/>\nself-enhancement by enrolling in courses relevant to their job duties. It also&#13;<br \/>\ncollaborates with universities to provide on-the-job training for tertiary&#13;<br \/>\nstudents to acquire actual work experience and explore employment opportunities&#13;<br \/>\nin the research sector to enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong. Last year,&#13;<br \/>\nit even launched &#8216;Winter Internship&#8217; and organised&#13;<br \/>\n&#8216;Smarter Talent Gala&#8217; for young people to learn about local research&#13;<br \/>\ndevelopment and opportunities and the efforts of HKPC in promoting the&#13;<br \/>\ndevelopment of smart city with I&amp;T.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Ms Karen Fung,&#13;<br \/>\nGeneral Manager, InnoPrenuer (SME &amp; Startup&#13;<br \/>\nGrowth) and FutureSkills of HKPC, said, &#8220;With technology&#13;<br \/>\nbeing applied in various sectors, training of talents has become the most&#13;<br \/>\nimminent task for enterprises. As the best partner in training, HKPC Academy is&#13;<br \/>\ncommitted to promoting diversified FutureSkills courses, offering appropriate&#13;<br \/>\ntraining for skilled and non-skilled workers.
