New&#13;<br \/>\ntools and solutions launched include Reading Progress, to enhance students reading&#13;<br \/>\nskills remotely, and features like Group Assignments and third-party app&#13;<br \/>\nintegrations in Microsoft Teams that will empower educators and support&#13;<br \/>\nstudents in their classroom experience<span class=\"normaltextrun\">. To reverse learning loss,&#13;<br \/>\neducators are seeking ways to evaluate their students&#8217; progress, and help them&#13;<br \/>\nadvance at their own pace. With this in mind, Microsoft is introducing Reading&#13;<br \/>\nProgress, a free tool designed to support readers who are learning a new&#13;<br \/>\nlanguage or educators trying to raise students&#8217; general comprehension.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>With Reading Progress, educators can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Save time<\/b> by creating reading fluency assignments for&#13;<br \/>\neither the entire class or for individual students to complete independently.&#13;<br \/>\nTeachers can also review assignments with built-in auto-detect features for&#13;<br \/>\nEnglish language that analyze results and jump to any part of the recording to&#13;<br \/>\nreview detected words and passages.<\/li>\n<li><b style=\"font-size: 1rem\">Visualize reading progress <\/b><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">with a holistic view&#13;<br \/>\nof data and insights, including accuracy rate and actionable feedback useful&#13;<br \/>\nfor guiding class progress.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b style=\"font-size: 1rem\">Engage students in independent practice<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\"> on their own time&#13;<br \/>\nwhere students can work at their own pace, record as many times as they like,&#13;<br \/>\nand make progress without pressure.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Available prior to the next school year, Reading&#13;<br \/>\nProgress is free for all students and teachers using Microsoft Teams for&#13;<br \/>\nEducation, and is compliant with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act&#13;<br \/>\n(FERPA).<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><b>New tools to support student engagement in&#13;<br \/>\nthe classroom<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Microsoft is also enhancing Teams and other tools to&#13;<br \/>\nhelp educators unlock digital experiences that complement and enrich in-person&#13;<br \/>\nlearning. These new free offerings will be available ahead of the next school&#13;<br \/>\nyear and were inspired by insights from education experts, system leaders,&#13;<br \/>\neducators, and students alike.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><b>Group&#13;<br \/>\nassignments: <\/b><\/span><span class=\"normaltextrun\">Educators&#13;<br \/>\ncan now organize their students into assignment groups so they can work&#13;<br \/>\ntogether to create, collaborate, and submit the same work.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Use your&#13;<br \/>\nfavorite apps in Assignments:<\/b><span class=\"normaltextrun\" style=\"font-size: 1rem\">&#13;<br \/>\nTeachers will now be able to issue assignments from a variety of third-party&#13;<br \/>\napps directly in Teams, saving time and increasing student creativity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Calendar&#13;<br \/>\nintegrations:<\/b><span class=\"normaltextrun\" style=\"font-size: 1rem\"> New&#13;<br \/>\ncalendar integrations allow students to see when their classes are and when&#13;<br \/>\nassignments are due in the Teams and Outlook calendars \u2013 all in one place.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Learning Management System (LMS) Updates:<\/b><span class=\"normaltextrun\" style=\"font-size: 1rem\"> Microsoft is working with LMS providers such&#13;<br \/>\nas Instructure and Blackboard to improve integrations between LMS and Microsoft&#13;<br \/>\nTeams, Teams meetings, and OneDrive, providing a more seamless experience for&#13;<br \/>\neducators.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Making learning more engaging and fun<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Educators are recognizing how pivotal immersive&#13;<br \/>\nexperiences can be to engage students on a deeper level. To support them in seeking&#13;<br \/>\ndifferent ways to keep students actively engaged, Microsoft is releasing new&#13;<br \/>\nfeatures to Minecraft: Education Edition. This will provide more opportunities&#13;<br \/>\nfor students to play and learn in the classroom and out.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Integrating Minecraft Education Edition with Teams and&#13;<br \/>\nFlipgrid<\/b>:&#13;<br \/>\nEducators can now embed a Flipgrid topic, Forms quiz, or assessment tool using&#13;<br \/>\nnew Resource links within a Minecraft world or lesson. Students on the other&#13;<br \/>\nhand, can open a Flipgrid Topic, record and share their creation, and invite&#13;<br \/>\nothers to join a world they have created\u2014with just a few clicks.<\/li>\n<li><b>Minecraft Education&#13;<br \/>\nEdition<\/b><span class=\"normaltextrun\" style=\"font-size: 1rem\">\u00a0<\/span><b style=\"font-size: 1rem\">for Camps and Clubs:<\/b><span class=\"normaltextrun\" style=\"font-size: 1rem\">&#13;<br \/>\nBeginning this summer, camps, clubs, homeschool organizations, and nonprofits&#13;<br \/>\ncan purchase licenses for Minecraft: Education Edition\u00a0to support critical&#13;<br \/>\nthinking, collaboration, and game-based learning for all ages outside of the&#13;<br \/>\nclassroom.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><b>Supporting student well-being <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Emotional well-being is key to student success and&#13;<br \/>\nresearch shows that approaches to support student well-being are in high&#13;<br \/>\ndemand, but low supply.<sup>[2]<\/sup>&#13;<br \/>\nNew tools to equip educators with the ability to understand the complexities&#13;<br \/>\nstudents face, and their emotional state, as they guide them in navigating the&#13;<br \/>\nchallenges of today have also been introduced.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/aka.ms\/EDUReflect\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Reflect<\/b><\/a><b>,<\/b> a free app in&#13;<br \/>\nMicrosoft Teams, provides a way for educators to&#13;<br \/>\ncreate regular check-ins in with individual students or classes to share how&#13;<br \/>\nthey are feeling, and help learners better understand how their emotions&#13;<br \/>\nmay impact their learning.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/educationblog.microsoft.com\/en-us\/2020\/09\/new-features-in-teams-and-onenote-support-social-emotional-learning-approaches\/\" style=\"font-size: 1rem\"><b>Embedded tools in&#13;<br \/>\nOneNote and Teams,<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\"> such as praise badges and sticker packs, help students&#13;<br \/>\nand educators feel more connected and foster the growth of effective&#13;<br \/>\nrelationships.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These will be critical in helping build students&#8217; confidence and&#13;<br \/>\nenabling educators to facilitate valuable learning conversations in and beyond&#13;<br \/>\nthe classroom.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p><b>Enabling safe and secure classrooms <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Lastly, with more learning taking place outside the&#13;<br \/>\nphysical school, the increase in digital traffic and the number of connected&#13;<br \/>\ndevices brings new challenges: from malicious attacks to uninvited guests in&#13;<br \/>\nthe digital classroom.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>To ensure students&#8217; safety in digital and physical&#13;<br \/>\nspaces, Microsoft is launching <b>Supervised Chat<\/b> in Teams<b>. <\/b>\u00a0Available later this month, this feature allows&#13;<br \/>\ndesignated educators to initiate chats with students, while preventing students&#13;<br \/>\nfrom starting new chats unless an appropriate educator is present \u2014 meaning&#13;<br \/>\nstudents can engage in safe discussions.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;
