\n2021 – Now in its fourth year, the “Ear Up Incubation” music mentorship programme
\nreached another milestone for the local music industry when 12 Hong Kong based groups
\nwere chosen as finalists in the long-awaited Ear Up Music Festival in March
\n2021.<\/p>\n

Covering a variety
\nof music genres, the
\ngroups took four major awards including the “Ear Up Grand Prize”,<\/b> the “Ear Up Creativity Award”,<\/b> the “Ear Up Performance Award”<\/b>
\nand the “Ear Up Audience Award”. <\/b><\/p>\n

\nthe challenges created by the COVID-19 situation, \u00a0a year training programme concluded with the 12
\nfinalists displaying their talents at the Festival which was held in the Free
\nSpace of the West Kowloon Cultural District.<\/p>\n

    TAOTAO & flat550 <\/b>an R&B group with an electronic
    \ntouch <\/b>won <\/b>the “Ear Up Grand Prize”,<\/b> and the “Ear Up Audience Award”<\/b> and were
    \nthe clear favourites of the online live viewers.<\/p>\n


    \n <\/p>\n

    Chonotenki <\/b>and WHIZZ<\/b> were joint winners of the “Ear Up
    \nPerformance Award”<\/b> and demonstrated their passion by enticing the audience to get up on their
    \nfeet and dance.<\/p>\n

    wongguyshawn & sumj.chan<\/b> swept up the “Ear Up Creativity Award”<\/b> with their innovative progressive instrumental blend of fusion, electro and jazz. <\/p>\n

    Nex<\/b>t Stop: The world!<\/b><\/p>\n

    Mr
    \nYUEN Chi-Chung, a veteran music producer and the project director of this
    \nyear’s Ear Up
    \nIncubation <\/b>programme said, “We were delighted with impressive
    \nimprovements of the participants which clearly proved their potential to reach
    \nthe international stage. The programme gave the participants a comprehensive
    \nview of local music and led to a clear identification of their own uniqueness
    \nand position. With the tremendous response for Festival tickets, we are
    \noptimistic about the future of Hong Kong music.”<\/p>\n

    Fostering new Hong Kong music<\/b><\/p>\n

    Ear Up Music<\/b> is a music label that was tasked by
    \nthe Renaissance Foundation Hong Kong<\/i>
    \nto develop a sustainable and diverse music ecology in the city and nurture
    \nrising young music stars. Sponsored since 2016 by Create Hong Kong<\/i> (a Government unit that aims to develop Hong Kong
    \ninto a regional creative capital), <\/b>the
    \nlabel created the “Ear Up Incubation”<\/b> programme to spotlight new music
    \nin Hong Kong and in neighbouring regions and beyond. <\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/p>\n

    Apart from dedicated small group
    \nmentorship sessions, the programme also includes a series of performance
    \nworkshops and international forums for young musicians to enhance their live
    \nperformance skills, understand the latest industry trends and discover
    \npotential collaboration opportunities. Live house showcases and school
    \nshowcases are also arranged for participants to gain performance experience and
    \nbuild up a fanbase. All the participants are selected through an open
    \nrecruitment and audition process organised by Ear Up Music.<\/b> <\/p>\n
