\npresent a collection of premiere and encore programming to mark the 10-year
\nanniversary the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011, which spurred a
\ntsunami, a meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, and mass
\ndestruction along Japan’s east coast. The programming event airs throughout
\nMarch and April. Descriptions of all
\nprograms in “3.11 — 10 Years On”, including multilingual videos (Burmese, Chinese,
\nIndonesian, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese) are available on this special web page<\/a> <\/p>\n

\nthe international TV premiere of Ken Watanabe –<\/i> A Copassionate <\/i>View: The Decade Since the Great East Japan Earthquake<\/i><\/a>.<\/i> Japanese Hollywood star
\nKen Watanabe (“Last Samurai”, “Batman Begins”,
\n“Godzilla”, “Transformers”) raised international attention
\nfor the disaster and has listened to the stories of more than 20,000 people in
\nthe past decade. The documentary follows the actor as he visits the communities
\nmost affected by the disaster and gets to know its victims. The program
\nairs Saturday, March 6. (UTC)<\/p>\n

\ninternational TV premiere, Generation March 11: Their 10<\/i> <\/i>Years Journey<\/i>, tells the
\nstories and follows the progress of the lives of children born in the disaster
\nareas. Part of the anniversary programming is also a new documentary on one of
\nJapan’s most prolific and award-winning stop-motion animation artists, Tomoyasu
\nMurata, and his work commemorating the victims of the disaster, broadcast as a
\nspecial edition of the Anime Supernova<\/i> series. <\/p>\n

\nanniversary of the disaster is 3\/11<\/i>-The Tsunami,<\/i>
\na two-part documentary that made
\nits international broadcast premiere in January 2021. (Thai subtitles available.<\/a>) (Indonesian subtitles available.<\/a>) The series combines footage
\nfrom NHK camera crews with mobile phone and other video captured by citizens
\nwho were on scene during and after the earthquake and tsunami, and the
\ncountry’s recovery efforts of the following year.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n\n
