\n(81%) employers saying that workflow automation will enhance employees’ work
\ninstead of replacing them, a number of challenges are still holding these
\norganisations back. About two in three of them highlighted obstacles related to
\nknowledge gaps such as ‘a lack of background knowledge to utilise workflow
\nautomation technologies’ (63%), and ‘the inability to establish the correct
\nworkflow’ (62%).<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/release.media-outreach.com\/release.php\/Images\/Thumb\/500x0\/129339\/Workflow-Automation.jpg#image-129339\")

\n <\/p>\nThese are some of the key findings from the
\nrecently launched NTUC LearningHub<\/a>
\n(NTUC LHUB) Industry Insights Report on Workflow Automation in Singapore. The
\nreport is based on in-depth interviews with industry experts, UiPath and NTUC
\nLHUB, and a survey involving 300 business decision-makers across industries in
\nSingapore.<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\nIn addition, while a majority of businesses
\n(75%) say their organisations have experience with workflow automation, almost
\nhalf (43%) of them say that they lack buy-in from employees to adopt these
\ntechnologies. In the job market, more than half (56%) of employers are willing
\nto offer a premium to hire talent in workflow automation,\u00a0but three in
\nfive (58%) employers highlight that there is inadequate interest among job
\nseekers. <\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\nThe contrast between employers’ positive
\nattitudes towards workflow automation and employees’ ambivalent views highlights
\nthe need to showcase to the public a different perspective about how such
\ntechnologies benefit both organisations and staff members, such as achieving
\n‘better utilisation of resources’ (74%), ‘carrying out mundane or tedious
\ntasks’ (70%), and ‘reducing operational risks’ (58%).<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\nAnthony Chew, Director of ICT Product Division
\nat NTUC LHUB says, “In a turbulent COVID-19 environment, the imperative for a
\ncompany to invest in efficiency and productivity is as weighty as educating its
\nworkforce. With that in mind, it is key that business leaders assuage any
\nanxiety their workers might have of new technologies so that they can truly
\nharness the power of automated systems. Employees must also see the adoption of
\nworkflow automation as an opportunity to thrive in areas involving critical
\nthinking and decision-making — skills which are irreplaceable by machines. This
\nis why we urge workers to learn about workflow automation in order to fully
\nunderstand and best utilise it, rather than to fear it.”<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n\u00a0“The
\npandemic has reinforced the importance of building agility and resilience and
\nSingaporean companies are seeing the cost benefits and versatility that
\nautomation solutions such as RPA (Robotic Process Automation) provide,” says
\nChris Loo, Managing Director, Southeast Asia, UiPath. “This will continue as
\nmore companies digitise and Singapore attracts companies from high-growth
\nsectors such as fintech, biotechnology, renewable energy and others. Employees
\nwho are skilled in deep tech areas such as RPA, AI\/ML and cybersecurity will
\nadd significant value, and be in high demand.”<\/p>\n
