Indigenous languages and official languages were used&#13;<br \/>\ntogether throughout the events, including Indigenous Language Revitalization&#13;<br \/>\nAward Ceremony and a keynote speech on the Historical Truth of Indigenous&#13;<br \/>\nLanguage Loss and National Language Revitalization Strategy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img src=\"https:\/\/release.media-outreach.com\/release.php\/Images\/Thumb\/500x0\/125875\/photo.jpg#image-125875\" width=\"500\"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center\">President Tsai Ing-wen presenting Indigenous Language Children Award to the 5-year-old recipient, LregeaiRukai<\/h5>\n<p>Delegates from 14&#13;<br \/>\ncountries including the Republic of Palau, and heads of local governments and&#13;<br \/>\nNGOs were invited, reaching an attendance of 300 people. President Tsai Ing-wen&#13;<br \/>\nand Premier Su Tseng-chang of the Executive Yuan presented a total of 12 awards&#13;<br \/>\nto accredited individuals, groups and organizations for indigenous language&#13;<br \/>\nrevitalization. Among which, the recipient of the Indigenous Language Children&#13;<br \/>\nAward, Lregeai, is a five-year-old with Rukai person, who has already won many&#13;<br \/>\nawards in relation to indigenous languages. Kating Mulas, the recipient of the&#13;<br \/>\nIndigenous Language Teacher Award is fluent in both Bunun, her mother language,&#13;<br \/>\nand Pangcah\/Amis, the language she teaches, and is extremely gifted in language&#13;<br \/>\nlearning.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Minister Icyang \u2027 Parod of the Council of&#13;<br \/>\nIndigenous Peoples delivered his remark entirely in Pangcah\/Amis. Delegates&#13;<br \/>\nattending the meeting on behalf of various organizations used a total of 10&#13;<br \/>\ndifferent languages, including Truku, Drekay, Thakongadavane, Bunun,&#13;<br \/>\nKanakanavu, Pangcah\/Amis, Atayal, Kavalan, Pinuyuanan, and Chinese.&#13;<br \/>\nSimultaneous interpreting service for various indigenous languages was provided&#13;<br \/>\nas per international conferences, showcasing indigenous languages for the&#13;<br \/>\nnation to become acquainted with, so that together we can create an environment&#13;<br \/>\nfriendly to indigenous languages.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Enacted in 2016, the Indigenous Languages&#13;<br \/>\nDevelopment Act set in motion various measures for language revitalization,&#13;<br \/>\nleading to the quintuple of budget with even more manpower invested towards&#13;<br \/>\nlanguage revitalization. With the government coordinating indigenous language&#13;<br \/>\npromotion organizations, manpower and resources, we hope to effectively&#13;<br \/>\nrevitalize indigenous languages and cultures through such consensus meetings.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>Minister Icyang \u2027 Parod pointed out that&#13;<br \/>\nwithout indigenous languages, there will be no indigenous rituals and&#13;<br \/>\nceremonies; without indigenous languages, indigenous cultures will cease to be&#13;<br \/>\npassed on. As the origin of the Austronesian, linguistic diversity is Taiwan&#8217;s&#13;<br \/>\ngift to the world in its most beautiful form.
