\nFebruary 3, 2021, the VinFuture Foundation<\/a> announced\u00a0the VinFuture Prize’s
\nnomination criteria which put the impact on millions of people in\u00a0the past
\nor next ten years at the core. The VinFuture Prize is officially open for

\nworld-renowned scientists. There are nine key eligibility criteria for the
\nGrand Prize and the three Special Prizes.\u00a0There are further criteria for

\nglobal vision for the VinFuture Foundation, the prizes will be awarded for
\nfundamental advances in science and engineering that align with the 17
\nSustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, including
\neradicating poverty and hunger, enhancing health and quality of life, promoting
\naccess to quality education, clean water, and renewable energy, reducing
\ninequality or addressing climate change.<\/p>\n

\nPrize’s nomination criteria unique is the requirement for clear evidence of the
\nimpact on millions of people in the past or next ten years. Breakthroughs in
\nscience must result in positive impacts for humankind on a global scale. This
\nis an integral criterion, consistent with the mission of “creating
\nmeaningful change in the everyday lives of millions of people by promoting
\nbreakthrough scientific research and technological innovations” that VinFuture
\nhas set forth.<\/p>\n

\ncalls for nominations to be submitted by eligible nominators including
\nrecognised organisations such as universities, research institutes, national
\nacademies of sciences, networks, professional associations, technology and
\nindustrial corporates or businesses, incubators, as well as prominent
\nindividuals in relevant fields. <\/p>\n
\nRichard Henry Friend – Chair of the VinFuture Prize Council commented:\u00a0“We
\nneed cooperation on a global scale to tackle the global challenges we now face,
\nsuch as infectious diseases, public health and climate change. For these, we
\nnow recognise that science and technology must deliver benefits to all peoples
\nand all nations.\u00a0The VinFuture prizes will recognise those whose brilliant
\nscience or engineering can have positive impact on the lives of millions of
\npeople across the planet.”<\/i><\/p>\n

\nwith the release of the nomination criteria, the VinFuture Prize has officially
\nopened its call for nominations worldwide from February 3, 2021 to June 7,
\n2021.<\/p>\n

\nFoundation’s Founder, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong — Chairman of Vingroup
\nremarked:\u00a0“Apart from recognising exceptional scientists worldwide,
\nVinFuture wishes to promote and bring research work and inventions into life
\nfor the betterment of humankind. I hope that the VinFuture Prize can discover
\nand recognise the most deserving scientists and inventors as well as projects
\nthat bring about great values to millions of people.”<\/i><\/p>\n

\nVinFuture Foundation and VinFuture Prize were introduced on December 20, 2020.
\nAs an annual global prize for science and technology, VinFuture Prize is one of
\nthe most valuable prizes to date with its total prize value of VND104.5 billion
\n(equivalent to US$4.5 million).<\/p>\n
\n
<\/p>\n
\nbillion Grand\u00a0Prize (equivalent to US$3 million) will be awarded to those
\nwhose groundbreaking research and technological inventions are proven to
\npossibly better the life of humankind and foster a sustainable living
\nenvironment for future generations.\u00a0Three special prizes, each at VND11.5
\nbillion (equivalent to US$500,000) will be awarded to innovators from
\ndeveloping countries; female innovators and innovators with outstanding
\nachievements in emerging fields.<\/p>\n

\nVinFuture Laureates are selected by an independent Prize Council – a global and
\ndiverse team of distinguished individuals from academia, research and industry,
\nall of whom are globally renowned for their achievements and contribution in
\nthe field of science, technology and industry in advancing human progress.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nrecognised universities and research institutes from 20 countries of six
\ncontinents showing their interest in becoming official nominators for the
\nPrize.<\/p>\n

\nmainland China, Denmark, France, Ghana, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia,
\nJapan, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Nigeria, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, South
\nKorea, Sudan, Switzerland, Taiwan, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, to the United
\nStates.\u00a0Nominators also come from universities such as Cornell University,
\nHarvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University,
\nTsinghua University, University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania,
\nUniversity of Toronto or Yale University, to name just a few.<\/p>\n

\nlaureates will be announced in December 2021 and the official award ceremony
\nwill be held in Viet Nam in January 2022.\/.<\/p>\n

\n not entrepreneurs or corporates who helped in commercialisation\/diffusion
\n of the technology; <\/i><\/li>\n
\n should benefit\u00a0people globally, including those from developing and
\n less developed countries, as well as lower-income and disadvantaged
\n communities; <\/i><\/li>\n
\n teams of researchers\/inventors; <\/i><\/li>\n
\n the\u00a0active stages of their careers; <\/i><\/li>\n
\n individual\/team\u00a0can be nominated for one or more of the VinFuture
\n Special Prizes\u00a0if eligible.<\/i><\/li>\n
