As the economy recovers, investment&#13;<br \/>\ninto the market will flourish, and that would drive the demand for talent amid&#13;<br \/>\nthe business recovery climate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13; <\/p>\n<p>In view of the economic demands, the sectors&#13;<br \/>\nearmarked for highest hiring activity are technology &amp; telecommunications,&#13;<br \/>\nbanking &amp; financial services, industrial &amp; manufacturing, FMCG as well&#13;<br \/>\nas professional services.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, job creation in Singapore&#8217;s&#13;<br \/>\ntechnology sector is driving the uptick in employment. Many businesses in Singapore were not ready for the new normal when&#13;<br \/>\ntechnology capabilities had to ramp up quickly to ensure business continuity&#13;<br \/>\nduring the pandemic. To that end, Singapore&#8217;s fintech and e-commerce sectors&#13;<br \/>\nbecame role models for everybody else. These sectors, in particular, remained&#13;<br \/>\nbuoyant throughout 2020, thus becoming good examples for non-technology&#13;<br \/>\nbusinesses to follow suit.<\/p>\n<p>2021 will see&#13;<br \/>\nfurther drive to upgrade and digitise businesses where technology professionals&#13;<br \/>\nskilled in data engineering, data visualisation, software developing and&#13;<br \/>\ncybersecurity will see the most demand. According to the report, 80% of&#13;<br \/>\ntechnology professionals state renumeration and benefits as their top&#13;<br \/>\nconsideration when accepting a job offer.<\/p>\n<p>Considering&#13;<br \/>\nthe increased competition for high-potential professionals, Nilay Khandelwal&#13;<br \/>\nadvises, &#8220;Tech professionals are currently in great demand, hence it is&#13;<br \/>\npertinent for employers to ensure they are not a part of a talent auction&#13;<br \/>\nprocess and are paying in line with market standards to attract the right&#13;<br \/>\ntalent.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As a viable option to bridge skill gaps&#13;<br \/>\narising from increased investment in digital tools, 20% of companies in&#13;<br \/>\nSingapore cited prioritising short-term contractors\/temporary employment in&#13;<br \/>\ntheir 2021 hiring strategy. This spiked in the back end of 2020 particularly&#13;<br \/>\nacross digital, procurement and technology, since travel and borders remain&#13;<br \/>\nclosed.
