Popular actor Darpan Srivastava seen portraying a significant role of\u00a0King Herod<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0&TV\u2019s new show, \u2018Yeshu\u2019<\/strong>. In a candid conversation, the seasoned actor shares how he bagged the role, the preparations he is undertaking and his eagerness to see viewers response to the show.<\/p>\n

  1. How did you get into acting? Was it your first choice of profession?<\/strong>
    \nThe acting was not exactly my primary career option; I aspired to be a producer initially. When I started as an assistant director, I remember thinking to myself that an actor\u2019s job is never completed. It was a pleasant surprise to me when I first began acting as an experiment and became so comfortable in the roles and characters that I decided I would stick around and take up acting. So far, I have been satisfied with the parts I have chosen to play and with Yeshu, I am quite excited and putting all my efforts into bringing in the right nuances that my character King Herod demands.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Your experience with acting?\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      My experience has been immensely satisfying and rewarding. I have been lucky to be a part of numerous shows and films that have given me the repertoire and confidence that I hold today. Acting has added many dimensions to my personality, and the journey itself has been blissful. I must say I have been lucky enough to have made a place for myself in the industry where people recognize me, acknowledge and appreciate my work.<\/p>\n

      1. How did you bag this role? How many audition rounds did you undergo for thesame?<\/strong>
        \nIt was a virtual auditioning, given the current pandemic situation. I was approached directly by the Production House to audition for the role. The initial brief on the character itself excited me enough, and upon auditioning, it was almost instantly that I bagged the role. Shows of such nature and roles don\u2019t come by that easily. I am glad and grateful that everything worked out well. I am thrilled to be a part of Yeshu and eagerly looking forward to the audience\u2019s reaction<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. Tell us about your character in the show?
          \n<\/strong>I am playing the role of a menacing King Herod, the critical antagonist of the show. He is infamous as a cruel and unjust Roman Emperor. He is set to unleash wrath upon his subjects in the show. He is a selfish and debauched king solely guided by his own self-interest. He rules over people by generating fear rather than respect. He is influenced by Shaitan, the evil force and does his bidding. I do hope to do justice to the role. I like to challenge myself by taking on unique and captivating roles. Working with Arvind Babbal Sir is a pleasure, he always has a thought in mind, and I truly value that. We have begun shooting, and so far, my experience has been great, I am eager to see how my character shapes up further.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          1. Did you have to prep for this role? If yes, tell us about the preparations.<\/strong>
            \nWith experience, I have been fortunate enough to have played multiple roles in the past, which allowed me to be confident for the role of King Herod. I did not go through rigid preparations, but when I read the script, I got a deeper understanding of the storyline and the characters and what was expected out of me. I am what they say a \u2018Director\u2019s Actor\u2019 and do as I am told. It is relatively easy for me to engulf a role and its characteristics. I am eagerly looking forward to my friends, family and fans reaction and views on my character.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            1. What exactly is the storyline?<\/strong>\u00a0What are your expectations from the show and the viewers?<\/strong>
              \n\u2018Yeshu\u2019 is a story of an exceptionally benevolent child who only wants to do good and spread happiness all around him. His love and compassion for all is a stark contrast to the dark, evil forces prevalent during his birth and childhood. Witnessing the various atrocities on his family and in society has a deep impact on him. His attempt to help others and ease their pain often leads to situations where he inevitably ends up being hurt and condemned, by not just the oppressors, but also the people t large. But even that doesn\u2019t stop Yeshu from continuing on his path. It is not only the most iconic story of good versus evil, but it also captures the beautiful relationship between Yeshu and his support and guide \u2013 his mother. \u00a0With a story that has never been told before, Yeshu is an entirely new and different concept that &TV is bringing forward in the Hindi GEC space. I am looking forward to working with the stellar cast of the show and many more great artists. I am sure the show will strike a chord with the audience and will receive acceptance and appreciation. We all are very excited and looking forward to our viewers\u2019 reaction.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
