To<br \/>\ncommemorate this watershed moment in time, the Kaohsiung City Government has<br \/>\norganized a series of celebratory events across different settings and sectors.<br \/>\nA highlight was the grand lighting-up for Kaohsiung 100 on December 24. Next, on<br \/>\nNew Year&#8217;s Eve, there will be live performances of different types&#8211;popular<br \/>\nmusic, artistic presentations, and performing arts&#8211;on three stages: one in the<br \/>\nKaohsiung Port warehouse area, one outside the Kaohsiung Music Center, and<br \/>\nanother on an offshore platform in Love River Bay.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img src=\"https:\/\/release.media-outreach.com\/release.php\/Images\/Thumb\/500x0\/114682\/photo-for-Kaohsiung.jpg#image-114682\" width=\"500\"\/><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">Kaohsiung Port awash with light beams to commemorate city name&#8217;s centennial.<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai said that the<br \/>\n2020 New Year&#8217;s Eve celebrations, with the Kaohsiung 100 visual identity at the<br \/>\ncenter, feature rays of light going out in all directions, thereby matching the<br \/>\nport city&#8217;s space across sea, land, and air against its historical flow over<br \/>\nthe course of a century. In other words, Kaohsiung is not only celebrating the<br \/>\n100<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of its current name but also showing to the world that<br \/>\nits citizens have worked hand in hand to tide over an ongoing pandemic and have<br \/>\nthe resolve to strive for a brighter future at an accelerated pace.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The development of Kaohsiung is closely<br \/>\nassociated with Japan. In 2020, a window on Kaohsiung over the past century<br \/>\ntakes form out of projections thrown on the walls of buildings along the Love<br \/>\nRiver. Visitors to the port city are offered a virtual time machine ride to get<br \/>\nglimpses of key happenings in its past. The aforesaid offshore platform is<br \/>\nturned into an unprecedented stage where the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra will<br \/>\ndeliver a most magnificent performance. To top it off, there will be a splendid<br \/>\nlight show put on by a fleet of drones in the sky over Love River Bay, the<br \/>\nstarting point out of which Kaohsiung has evolved into the metropolis it is<br \/>\ntoday.
