\n Jal\u0101l ad-D\u012bn Muhammad R\u016bm\u012b commemorated 747th death anniversary on December 7 and December 17 at Seb-i Arus Ceremonies held in Konya, one of the major cities of Turkey. <\/p>\n

\nthe news of the pandemic first broke early this year, many plans revolving
\ntravelling, large weddings and unions for festive celebrations were put on hold
\nfor the greater good. While many countries have yet to open their doors for
\ninternational travelling, Indonesia is one of the few who still allows their
\nlocals to cross borders internationally (with the strict ruling to follow the
\nproper SOPs), allowing for Indonesians to carry on with their wanderlust dreams
\nyet witnessing meaningful occasions such as the Seb-i Arus ceremony in Turkey.<\/p>\n

\nArus ceremony (An annual ritual In Turkey)<\/i><\/h5>\n

Every year since 1937, Jal\u0101l ad-D\u012bn Muhammad\u00a0R\u016bm\u012b <\/b><\/em>is
\nbeing commemorated on his death anniversary at Seb-i Arus (Night of Reunion
\nwith the Divine) commemoration ceremonies in Konya, the birthplace of the
\nMevlevi order in the 13th<\/sup> century and home to Rumi’s tomb. Konya is
\na city known not only for Mevl\u00e2na, but also for its rich culture that blends
\nsignificant historical heritage. <\/p>\n

2020 marked the 747th<\/sup>
\ndeath anniversary of the world-renowned Sufi mystic, poet, and scholar Jal\u0101l ad-D\u012bn Muhammad\u00a0R\u016bm\u012b <\/b><\/em>known
\nto the world as Rumi. This year on December 7 and December 17, with the support
\nof the T.R. Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Turkish Tourism Promotion
\nand Development Agency,<\/b> Sema ceremonies as part of Seb-i Arus ceremonies were
\nheld at Rumi Cultural Center, in Konya. Due to the pandemic and limited
\nparticipation apart from the special guests and invitees of the ministry, the
\nceremonies were livestreamed on GoTurkey’s Twitter and Facebook accounts and
\nreal time stories will be shared from GoTurkey’s Instagram account (www.goturkey.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

With the participation of Speaker of
\nthe Turkish Grand National Assembly, Prof. Dr. Mustafa \u015eentop and <\/b>Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri
\nErsoy <\/b>to
\nthe celebrations, Vice President of International Mevl\u00e2na (R\u016bm\u012b) <\/em>Foundation, Esin \u00c7elebi Bayru (who is also Rumi’s 22nd<\/sup>
\ngeneration granddaughter and sociologist) and writer and Rumi expert, Ali
\nBekta\u015f got together with journalists from all around the world.<\/p>\n

According to Indonesian travel-enthusiast
\nand social media personality, Wira Nurmansyah, the teachings of Mevl\u00e2na about
\nlove is widely known in Indonesia and has a great effect over locals such as
\nhimself.<\/p>\n

“The witnessing of the ritual is deeply
\ntouching to me. Not only that, the spiritual atmosphere of Konya has a positive
\ninfluence for a Muslim such as myself, apart from the many other Muslim
\nattractions located in Turkey,” said Wira, who added that this ceremony left
\nhim a great impression on his first trip to Turkey on early December 2020. <\/p>\n

Another of Indonesia’s social media
\npersonality, Ashari Yudha had also attended the ceremony with Wira on this
\ntrip, which they were personally invited as guests hosted by Turkish
\nEmbassy Tourism Office<\/i><\/b> and Tourism Tourism Promotion and Development
\nAgency<\/i><\/b> for this special occasion. <\/p>\n

Seb-i Arus ceremonies, an annual
\nritual in Turkey<\/b><\/p>\n

Seb-i Arus ceremonies, which are held
\nevery year on December 17, means ‘wedding night’ in Turkish. The wedding night
\nis known in the Mevlevi order as the night Jal\u0101l ad-D\u012bn Muhammad\u00a0R\u016bm\u012b <\/b><\/em>died. Since Jal\u0101l ad-D\u012bn Muhammad\u00a0R\u016bm\u012b <\/b><\/em>considered
\nhis death not as an end but as a reunion with his beloved God, his death
\nanniversary is called the ‘Wedding Night<\/b>‘ also referred as ‘The Night of Reunion’. <\/b>Rumi interprets
\ndeath as a return to one’s origin, a “return to Allah” due to the fact that its
\nsource is a divine ore; according to him death is not the disappearance of the
\nbody, but the flight towards Allah. Rumi expresses his philosophy about death
\nwith these words: “Everyone refers to it as departing, I, however, refer to
\nit as a reunion<\/i>.” <\/p>\n
