The life insurer also raised more than S$550,000  to aid underprivileged youth and children\u2019s cancer research, supporting those most impacted  during this time                            <\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.media-outreach.com\/\">Media OutReach<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; 18 December 2020 &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aia.com.sg\/en\/index.html\">AIA<br \/>\nSingapore<\/a> today announced that they have invested over S$5 million in several community<br \/>\ninitiatives to comprehensively support Singaporeans throughout 2020. These<br \/>\ninclude holistic efforts to making quality healthcare accessible to all, providing<br \/>\nmonetary assistance for their employees, boosting the mental resilience of<br \/>\nworking Singaporeans amid a trying time for mental health, and creating employment<br \/>\nopportunities in the financial sector. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Committed to nurturing<br \/>\nfuture generations and doing their part for the community, the life insurer<br \/>\nalso continues to do good by practicing corporate social responsibility even in<br \/>\na fiscally challenging climate. This year, AIA Singapore raised over S$550,000 for<br \/>\ntheir two adopted charities, Children&#8217;s Wishing Well and the VIVA Foundation<br \/>\nfor Children with Cancer. The funds raised come on top of AIA Singapore&#8217;s<br \/>\nmulti-million dollar investment in keeping the community resilient as Singapore<br \/>\ntransitions to its eventual Phase 3 reopening.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ms Wong Sze Keed, Chief<br \/>\nExecutive Officer of AIA Singapore, said, &#8220;The COVID-19 pandemic has<br \/>\nhighlighted the important role insurers play in society. It is a chance for<br \/>\nlife insurers like us to show Singaporeans that we care about their holistic<br \/>\nwellness and safeguarding every aspect of their health and wellbeing when they<br \/>\nneed it the most. We have taken it upon ourselves to find new and timely ways<br \/>\nto put our people&#8211;our employees, insurance representatives, customers and the<br \/>\nwider Singapore community &#8212; first by providing them with peace of mind whilst living<br \/>\namid this uncertainty. We will continue to honour this commitment in 2021,<br \/>\ndelivering on our promise of enabling healthier, longer, better lives.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Protecting what matters<br \/>\nmost to all: the health of the nation <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>In a time when<br \/>\nSingaporeans are more conscious of their health and the need to safeguard their<br \/>\nloved ones and future<sup>[1]<\/sup>,<br \/>\nAIA Singapore is doubling down on their commitment to help ensure quality<br \/>\nhealthcare is accessible to all. The insurer is extending comprehensive support<br \/>\nto ensure the community&#8217;s physical and mental wellness are well-supported<br \/>\nduring this exceptional period. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Throughout 2020, AIA<br \/>\nSingapore has invested millions into providing necessary coverage, services,<br \/>\nand support to keep Singaporeans protected against infectious diseases and<br \/>\nhealth risks prevalent in the pandemic. These initiatives include: <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<b>Free COVID-19 special coverage<\/b> for 2.6 million of our customers,<br \/>\nemployees and their dependents, and AIA Insurance Representatives. Of which,<br \/>\nabout 500 customers who suffered from COVID-19 received financial help for the<br \/>\nmedical bills. This special coverage will also be extended till the end of June<br \/>\n2021.<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>Gift of Care campaign<\/b>, to provide customers with free access<br \/>\nto tele-consultation services provided by WhiteCoat.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>Providing 50,000 medical tele-consultations<\/b> for AIA HealthShield Gold Max<br \/>\npolicyholders.<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>Invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in the<br \/>\n&#8220;Resilience Mindset&#8221; programme <\/b>for corporate customers, a four-week course that aims<br \/>\nto improve the mental wellbeing of employees. Since November 2020, this<br \/>\nquarterly programme is accessible to 1.2 million members of the Singapore<br \/>\nworkforce, helping them cope better with working from home through the practice<br \/>\nof positive habits daily.<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>Insuring over 200,000 individuals against dengue<\/b> through free AIA Dengue Defence<br \/>\nCover product coverage, paying out claims to 447 policyholders.<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>Providing over 20,000 individuals with protection<br \/>\nagainst infectious diseases<\/b> through the AIA #ShareTheLove insurance plan.<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>Participating <\/b><b>in a drive to provide 5,000 care packages to healthcare workers<\/b>&#8211;a thank you to our silent heroes, the brave frontliners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><u>Bringing hope to<br \/>\nSingapore&#8217;s workforce amid evolving ways of working\u00a0 <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>As with their<br \/>\ncustomers, AIA Singapore places a high priority on their employees and AIA<br \/>\nInsurance Representatives&#8211;the people who keep the company going with their<br \/>\ncommitment and dedication. The insurer recognises their vital role in equipping<br \/>\ntheir people for the new future of work, and creating sustainable, long-term<br \/>\ncareer opportunities for the rest of the workforce. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In line with continued<br \/>\nefforts by the government of Singapore to create and protect jobs for locals<br \/>\nacross sectors, AIA Singapore allocated significant funds to support their<br \/>\nemployees while working from home and generate career opportunities for<br \/>\naspiring professionals:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<b>Investing S$2 million to create 500 new jobs through<br \/>\nthe AIA Financial Career Scheme<\/b>, which provides in-depth training and financial<br \/>\nsupport to fresh grads and mid-career switchers. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>Investing S$1.5 million in the work-from-home<br \/>\nassistance scheme<\/b>, wherein all of 1,488 AIA Singapore employees<br \/>\nreceived $1,000 to get enhance their remote work set-up.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>Investing in new stress and wellness management<br \/>\ntraining <\/b>for more<br \/>\nthan 350 of people managers in AIA Singapore. These help them identify common<br \/>\nmental health issues and learn how to appropriately support their staff in good<br \/>\ntimes and bad.<\/li>\n<li>\n<b>Giving all AIA Singapore employees an additional<br \/>\nday-off this year <\/b>to encourage them to focus on their personal wellbeing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><u>Additional fundraising<br \/>\nfor those less fortunate <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>COVID-19 has deeply<br \/>\naffected every member of society, even more so the underprivileged. AIA<br \/>\nSingapore constantly strives to pursue a culture of purpose by rallying their<br \/>\nemployees, insurance representatives, partners and customers together to give<br \/>\nback to the less fortunate in the community. In 2020, the insurer raised <b>over<br \/>\nS$550,000<\/b> for their two adopted charities through the #ShareTheLove<br \/>\ncampaign and other activities, with the intention of making a lasting<br \/>\ndifference to the lives of future generations. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Part of a regional AIA<br \/>\n#ShareTheLove movement taking place across Asia, the campaign, besides offering<br \/>\ncomplimentary AIA #ShareTheLove insurance plans, includes fundraisers for<br \/>\nbeneficiaries Children&#8217;s Wishing Well and the VIVA Foundation for Children with<br \/>\nCancer. AIA Singapore continues to support \u00a0disadvantaged children and youths, raising<br \/>\nfunds to progress education, groceries, wellness and enrichment programmes. This<br \/>\nyear, they also expanded on their giving commitment, partnering with the VIVA<br \/>\nFoundation for Children with Cancer to support fundraising efforts for<br \/>\npaediatric cancer research. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s CSR<br \/>\ninitiatives include: <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>#ShareTheLove Campaign &#8212; AIA Charity Golf Virtual<br \/>\nChallenge<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Now in its 5th year, AIA raised hundreds of thousands<br \/>\nin the virtual edition of its annual key fundraising event. Made possible by<br \/>\nthe generous support of AIA&#8217;s business partners, staff, and financial<br \/>\nrepresentatives, AIA raised an exceptional amount in this challenging year<br \/>\nalone. The annual event has garnered more than $1 million since 2016. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>#ShareTheLove Campaign &#8212; Donation Matching<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AIA<br \/>\nInsurance Representatives pledged their support by donating a portion of their<br \/>\npolicy sales from September to October 2020 to continue doing their part for<br \/>\nthe community.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Grocery donation drive during circuit breaker<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AIA rallied<br \/>\nstaff, insurance representatives, and customers to help ease the financial<br \/>\nburdens of their affected community at the height of the circuit breaker<br \/>\nperiod. The proceeds helped fund groceries for the Children&#8217;s Wishing Well<br \/>\nbeneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Sale of AIA Buddy Kids Christmas Merchandise (Sale<br \/>\nperiod: November-December 2020)<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All proceeds<br \/>\nfrom the purchase of the AIA Buddy Kids packs will go to the VIVA Foundation<br \/>\nfor Children with Cancer. Buddy is AIA&#8217;s trusty sidekick and learning mate that<br \/>\nis encouraging kids to recognise the value of being active, eating right, and<br \/>\nbeing financially healthy.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>AIA Singapore&#8217;s ongoing<br \/>\nactivities, such as their Singapore Premier League sponsorship, have also<br \/>\nsupported other members of the community. This ongoing partnership is part of<br \/>\nour commitment to making great strides in bringing football closer to the<br \/>\ncommunity with the focus of inspiring people to live active lifestyles. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Overall, 2020 has been<br \/>\na year of giving for the insurer.
