Utkal Diwas celebrated at Talcher Kaniha

ELogo-Blue2 Talcher , 2/4 ( Odisha Samachar / Priyamadhab Das )- 81st Utkal Diwas was celebrated at Talcher Kaniha on April 1, 2016 by Utkal Diwas Celebration Committee, NTPC Kaniha. Chief Guest Shri N K Kothari, Executive Director, Talcher Kaniha and Chief Speaker Professor  Santanu Kumar Sara ,Head of the English Dept.,Govt. College ,Angul inaugurated the event by lighting the lamps, followed by flower tribute to Utkala Gouraba Madhusudan Das, Utkala mani Gopabandhu Das, Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati & Fakir Mohan Senapati etc.TLC  2


After the inauguration, employees of the station sang Utkal Anthem “Bande Utkal Janni” which was followed by group song by the members of Ladies Club “Tanvi Sangam”.The welcome address was given by Shri S K Rath,President ,Utkal Diwas Celebration Committee.


Shri N.K..Kothari in his address conveyed his good wishes to all employees on the Utkal Diwas celebration.Shri Kothari as a tribute to the odia language addressed his speech in odia which was greeted by the audience with applauds and appreciation.On the occasion, he mentioned the importance of great leaders of Odisha and their contribution towards formation of Odisha state and promotion of Odia literature. He added Odisha is known for its rich culture and heritage.


Chief Speaker, Professor Santanu Kumar Sara in his address briefed the contribution of eminent personalities of Odisha like Utkala Gouraba Madhusudan Das, Utkala mani Gopabandhu Das in making the state independent and how the state was formed based on odia language. He highlighted the threat of western civilisation to odia language in present generation, in which odia people are not taking pride on their mother tongue. He said the future of odia language remains in the hands of youth.


Prior to the Utkal Diwas various competitions like debate ,sloka , pitha, fancy dress ,singing ,shanko baja,hulihuli & jhuti competition etc were organised .The competitions were participated in huge numbers by employees and their family members.

 To celebrate the day, various cultural programme e.g traditional form of dance like Odishi ,dance performance by children from Bal Bhavan and recreation centre.Miss Padmashree Mohanty ,student of NTPC Kendriya Vidyalaya and employee Shri Bijay Bag were felicitated  on this occasion for their special contribution in the field of yoga and badminton sports.

Shri Anand Khalatkar,GM(O&M), Shri P K Mohapatra,GM(Maintenance) ,Shri Anil Jana ,GM(FM) ,Shri Arun Prasad, GM(C&M) Shri N Srinivas Rao GM(TS) ,Smt Sunitee Khaltkar ,Vice President ,Tanvi Sangam ,members of Tanvi Sangam , along with senior officials and representatives of union and association were also present.


The programme was coordinated by  Shri P R Barik ,Secretary ,Utkal Diwas Cultural Committee who gave the vote of thanks and conveyed his gratitude to all employees and public for their cooperation for successful organisation of the programme. : Developping Odia News websites
