Union Petroleum Minister inaugurates Digi-Dhan Mela in Puri

Bhubaneswar, 26/03/2017 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek OS-Logo-Pink-English-300x179-3-300x179Mohanty )- : Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the second Digi-Dhan Mela of Odisha and 86th of the country was inaugurated at Puri today.

Speaking at the event, Pradhan threw light on the importance of digitization of the payment system and its valuable aspects in the day to day life of a common man.  He also conveyed the details of launch of BHIM app and  emphasised on the positive changes the country was witnessing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He further stated that alongwith e-wallet, AEPS, UPI, USSD and the BHIM App is expected to bring a sea change in the payment systems. Owing to this system even less educated people can use mobile app during their
financial transactions. The Government is also promoting Aadhaar Enabled Payment System in the country to promote digitaisation of financial services among the general public, he added.Puri 1

In the event, 16 banks, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Common Service Centre, UIDAI, Oil marketing companies, NFCL, Balmer Lawrie & private e-wallet operators like Airtel, PayTM, Reliance Jio, Vodafone m-pesa actively participated by putting up
their stalls to educate the public and sensitise them on the need for digital transactions.

Minister of State for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Babul Supriyo, who was also present on the occasion, said that Digi Dhan promotes and encourage cashless transactions amongst the general public. He also elaborated the process of digital payment system which
will curb the corruption in the society at large.

Guests were welcomed by SLBC Odisha Anil Kumar. A video in Odia was exhibited to sensitize on the need and advantages of digitization and the initiatives taken by Government of India.

The day-long event and the formal function were well appreciated by public and welcomed such programmes for sensitization on digital initiatives.

Footfalls recorded in stalls were of very large numbers and the exhibition area was fully packed with enthusiastic citizens visiting all stalls to understand the facilities available and its usages. During their visits, the citizens also carried out cashless transaction in digital mode at various stalls and also Aadhar related queries.
