Bhubaneswar , 10/1 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty ) : “There is a proposal to set up two more traffic police stations in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. While the number of vehicles and road users have gone up in Bhubaneswar at all the important squares especially Khandagiri square, Patia and Chandrasekharpur, more traffic police personnel will be deployed for regulating the traffic”, informed Police Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sharma while addressing the 27th Road Safety Week celebration here Sunday at Traffic Police Station in the State capital.
Speaking on the occasion, Tourism & Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda said, “Young people are the main victims of road accidents. Awareness and road safety habits should be inculcated among the youth to obey the traffic rules in order to avoid road accidents”.
Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena highlighted that computerised traffic lighting system will be introduced in the State capital soon.
Among others, MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, Bijay Mohanty, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Satyabrata Bhoi, DCP (Traffic) M.N. Bohidar and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jatin Panda were present.
On the occasion, a traffic park was inaugurated where various road safety information are on display. A signature campaign was also held to raise public awareness.
