TourisM Department gears up for Konark Festival and International Sand Art Festival 2015

ELogo-Blue2Bhubaneswar , 15/11 ( Odisha Samachar ) – The Konark Festival & International Sand Art Festival are the two most coveted events of Tourism Department going to be held from 1st to 5th December, 2015. All out efforts are being taken up by Tourism Department for its smooth management to attract more tourists. Director Tourism Shri Anil Kumar Samal took a coordination meeting with District Administration, Police Administration, I & PR, Handicrafts and Cottage Department, CESU, PHED, ASI, IDCO, NAC, Konark, OTDC and other line Departments to carry out their responsibilities in a systemic and efficient manner to make the event successful. The Konark Festival will be held in Open Air auditorium with famous Sun Temple at the backdrop with 5 renowned Odissi troupes along with famous artists of Manipuri, Satriya, Kuchipudi, Bharatnatyam & Kathak.KF 1

Similarly, the International Sand Art Festival shall have 35 stalls with reputed international and national artists. Women sand artists and Differently abled sand artists shall also participate in the festival coordinated by Shri Sudarshan Patnaik. Awards and trophies shall be given to the winners. OTDC shall sponsor free stays in Panthanivas for the winners.

Emphasis was given for maintenance of law & order, safety and security of VIPs, foreign tourists, traffic management and parking of vehicles etc. Handicraft & Handloom exhibition shall be held in the Urban Haat, Konark. Cleaning of Chandrabhaga Beach and the NAC area shall be ensured by NAC, Konark and Tourism Department. ASI has been advised for proper illumination of Sun Temple. Drinking water supply, First Aid stall, Trained Guides etc. shall be provided to facilitate the visitors.

Since both the events are of International importance and unique in nature, the Department of Tourism is giving emphasis for its hassle free management and taking sincere efforts to attract more and more tourists and art lovers  through media campaign and tour packages through OTDC, said Anil Samal, Director Tourism & MD,OTDC. He also said active co-ordination of all line Departments, media and local populace for making these events a grand success. ADM Puri, SDPO Nimapara, DIPRO Puri, Chairman NAC, Shri Sudarsan Pattnaik, eminent sand artist was also present in the meeting.
