STDCL to take forward Shamuka Beach Project

ELogo-Blue2Bhubaneswar, 31/10 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty )- : As a special drive to promote tourism in the State, the Government of Odisha has decided to implement Shamuka Beach Project near Puri on fast track basis.

Government has decided to form a Joint Venture Company namely, Shamuka Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (STDCL) for implementation of Shamuka project and development of other tourism projects around Puri town and peripheral tourist locations like Chilka, Satapada & Raghurajpur etc.  Both OTDC & IDCO shall have an equal equity participation in the Shamuka Tourism Development Corporation Ltd.  Initially both OTDC & IDCO will invest Rs.5.00 crore each equity capital in the proposed JV Company. The registered office of the company will be at Puri for close monitoring of the project.  OTDC has been asked to take necessary steps to finalize Memorandum & Article of Association and register the STDCL with Registrar of Companies at the earliest possible.

The Principal Secretary, Tourism shall be the Chairman of the JV company and Director Tourism cum Managing Director, OTDC shall be the OSD till regular CEO is recruited.  CMD, IDCO; MD, OTDC; Collector, Puri; DFO, Puri and representative from Finance, Revenue, Forest, H & UD, Water Resources and Energy Department will other members in the board.

It may be mentioned that 982 acres of land has been acquired for the Shamuka project in the Mauza Sipasarubali near Puri city.  The approach road up to the site & power station for the project are already in place.  The STDCL shall develop necessary common infrastructure for the project and take necessary steps for utilisation of land for different tourism projects.  With the formation of a dedicated company for the Shamuka Project, implementation of Shamuka tourism project will get expedited. : Developping Odia News websites
