Bhubaneswar (Odisha Samachar Bureau) : The 9th Sangam Festival organised by the Art Vision founded by Dr. Ileana Citaristi in the year 1996 had witnessed a memorable evening at Rabindra Mandap on 12.09.2013. The programme showcased a beautiful blend of two classical dance streams i.e. Odissi & Kuchipudi with Chhau & Yakshya Gana respectively. In Odissi component it is nature’s creation which portrayed the magnificent manifestations followed by the manmade destructions causing a great devastation and ruin of mankind. The only way to survive with happiness is to love your mother-earth, the nature and its creations. This concept of reconciling with nature was beautifully choreographed by Dr.Ileana Citaristi on the music composed by noted music director Shri Santanu Mohapatra. The dance ballet had a very appealing taste of grace and elegance of Odissi proportionately punctuated with the vibrancy and richness of Chhau which enthralled the audiences who enjoyed it thoroughly.
The second programme of the evening was Ganga Gouri Bilasam a dance drama of humour and satire revolving around the rivalry between the two consorts of Lord Siva i.e. Ganga and Gouri which had ended with the interventions of Lord Siva who had to compromise with both. Based on the music of late Oleti Venkateshwarulu, Guru Veenamurty Vijaya had choreographed incorporating the beautiful dance sequences on both Kuchipudi and Yakshya Gana style. The dance drama intermitted with witty dialogue and elegant yet nimble movements with precision regaled the art lovers.
The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Smt. Usha Padhi, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, School & Mass Education, Odisha; Padmabibhusana Raghunath Mohapatra, Eminent Sculptor; Shri Sudarsan Patnaik, International Sand Artist; Padamashree Ileana Citaristi, Eminent Odissi Danseuse and Exponent. The programme was compered by Dr. Sangita Goswani.
