Cuttack,17/6 ( Odisha Samachar )- To day i.e. on 17.06.2016 Sri Meghanad Manahira, Senior Clerk, O/o the Tahasildar, Sonepur has been caught by Vigilance Officers of Sambalpur Vigilance Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.1,000/- from the complainant Sri Bandhabihari Nayak of Village Haladipali, P.S/Dist. Sonepur, in this connection Sambalpur Vigilance P.S case No.57 dt.16.06.2016 u/s. 7 P.C. Act 1988 has been registered.
The complainant Sri Bandhabihari Nayak has alleged on 16.06.2016 that they have got joint property in his illage Haladipali, P.S-Sonepur. In the year 2012 without his consent his cousin brother Sri Anirudha Nayak had sold Ac.0.35 dec. to other person. They have applied for mutation of the land. In order to file objection the complainant Sri Nayak on 12.08.2015 has applied to the Tahasildar, Sonepur with paying court fees for supply of copy and details of mutation case record. For this purpose accused Sri Meghanad Manahira, Sr.Clerk demanded bribe of Rs.1,000/- to the complainant Sri Nayak. Getting no other alternative he reported to Vigilance.
A trap was laid on 17.06.2016. Accused Sri Meghanad Manahira, Sr.Clerk was caught red handed in front of the Tahasil Office, Sonepur by the Vigilance Officers of Sambalpur Division while demanding and accepting bribe Rs.1,000/- from the complainant Sri Nayak. The bribe money Rs.1,000/- was recovered from the possession of Sri Manahira, Sr.Clerk & has been seized in presence of witnesses. His hand wash gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
