Sambalpur, 25/10/2016 ( Odisha Samachar )- : Kusuma Foundation, India with the support of Kusuma Trust, U.K. organised it’s third annual Kusuma Excellence Award ceremony and the eighth Oath taking ceremony of Kusuma Excellence Fellowship.
Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi, Member of Legislative Assembly, Sambalpur was the chief guest. Kalpana Panda, ADEO cum DPC, School & Mass Education Department, Sambalpur graced the event as guest of honour. The function was held in Dr. Radhanath Rath Community Centre, Modipada, Sambalpur and attended by over 200 students, 50 teachers, 25 head teachers and 100 parents.
KF honoured the best performing schools, students and subject teachers of Government and Government-Aided secondary schools from Sambalpur District of Odisha. On this occasion, 12 students, 2 schools and 9 teachers with achievements are felicitated with cash reward and professional development opportunities under “Kusuma Excellence Awards” programme.
The programme also marked the Oath taking ceremony of 100 fellows selected for Kusuma Excellence Fellowship Programme.
A range of delegates, including officials from the State and district education departments, Head Teachers of schools and representatives from Kusuma Foundation, local NGOs and Kusuma Fellows attended the launch.
The programme was coordinated and facilitated by Rabindra Kumar Mohanty, State Mananger, Kusuma Foundation. He narrated that Kusuma is honoring the school/Junior College, teachers and students based on their performances through its Kusuma Excellence Award.
Ms. Bindiya Nagapal, Senior Programme Mananger, New Delhi has briefly presented the Kusuma’s work in the district and the state. She said that Kusuma is now going to support the Govt. of Odisha in Govt’s flagship programem MDM by constructing the Central community Kitchen in Sambalpur by spending 1 million pounds. She also said that Kusuma is focusing on teacher’s professional development programme and Secondary School Readiness Programme in the district to ensure that the students will get quality secondary education in the district.
Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi, expressing her delight said “ Kuusma’s educational interventions in the district is impressive and well appreciated. Kusuma is supporting 100 meritorious economically disadvantaged students with fellowship each year to ensure to pursuing their higher education. I will urge district administration and Govt. of Odisha to involve them in educational progress of the district“
