Bhubaneswar, 15/11/2017 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty )- : On the occasion of children’s day, the 28th edition of Sisu Mela was kicked off by People’s Cultural Center (PECUC) at Ekamra Haat, Amphitheater on Tuesday.
The festival was graced by Vigilance Director Debasis Panigrahi, Labour Commissioner Sachin Ramachandra, Khurda Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra, Child Protection Specialist Laxminarayan Nanda, Editor Sambad Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) Chairperson Kasturi Mohapatra, cine actress Bhumika Das, Anuradha Mohanty and Ranjan Mohanty from PECUC.
Cultural programmes performed by Snehaprava Samantaray troupe on behalf of Culture Department, students of Sunrise Public School, Royal Public School (Kesura) and Vicky Dance Group mesmerized the audience.
School children, child labourers, street children, deprived children from various sections, differently able children from different parts of Odisha participated in the festival at Bhubaneswar to promote a child-friendly environment. This week-long festival includes creative competitions, cultural programme by children below 18 years of age, children assembly, creative competitions and discussion on the topics concerning to the children.
In the concluding ceremony of this week long festival, many eminent personalities will be awarded, both adult and children, for their outstanding contribution in different fields.
PECUC, a socio-cultural organization having it’s headquartering at Bhubaneswar, has been working for the cause of children since its inception on 1990.
