Varanasi /Bhubaneswar ( Odisha Samachar ) – On the line of cultural tradition of Odisha, the Odias residing in Varanasi celebrated “Boita Bandana Utsav” under the aegis of Varanaseya Utkal Samaj (VUS) on 6th November, 2014, Kartika Purnima morning.. VUS has been instrumental in bringing together the Odia people and culture within and beyond the Odia community living around the holy city of Varanasi. The programme was celebrated in the bank of a Pond at IIT (BHU), Varanasi.
At first students made colorful rangoli in front of Tulasi Choura .The function started at 7.30AM with traditional ritual of Puja at Tulasi Choura . After that the main ritual of floating and worshiping of the miniature boats started. A large beautifully decorated boat was made to symbolize the voyages undertaken by our ancestors and glorious maritime past of our state.
To mark the memorable occasion, Prof. B. K. Panda and his family, Prof. G. B. Mishra, Prof Shampa Anupurba, Prof. A. C. Kara and his family, Dr. Pradosh Mishra, Dr. Asit Sahoo were present. The programme was coordinated by Amiya Kumar Samal, General Secretary, VUS and Bibhuti Bhusan Sahoo with the supportive hand of Mr. Priyabrata Ray, Mr. Debendra Biswal and Mr. Sripati Abhiram sahoo. The designing of boat was made by Mr. Adwait Ranjan Nayak, Mr. Jiten Pattnaik, Mr. Manoj Sahoo and Mr. Biswajit Dash.
