Koraput ,29/10 ( Odisha Samachar ) – The Central University of Orissa, Koraput organised Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in its both the campuses at Landiguda and Sunabeda on 29th October, 2014. The programme was initiated as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on 2nd October, 2014, to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, “The Father of the Nation”.
Prof. Mohammad Miyan, Vice-Chancellor of the University conveys the message for initiation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in a great spirit. The Programme was organised successfully in both the campuses by the direction of the Registrar, Colonel R. S. Chauhan.
While coordinating the Programme in the University Prof. Moahammad Altaf Khan, Controller of Examinations urged the students and the staff to adopt cleanliness as a permanent ethos of their life and work for generating awareness regarding clean atmosphere and personal hygiene. This is an initiative and it should continue throughout our life. He also urged the students to strengthen the mission by carrying it to common people in nearby localities as an outreach programme.
In order to promote cleanliness and hygiene and work for a pollution free campus Dr. S. K. Palita, Dean, School of Biodiversity and conservation of Natural Resources inspired the students and the staff of the University.
In order to sustain the Abhiyan in a befitting manner especially keeping a clean environment all the sections of the University like Academic, Administration and other related areas were cleaned in order to maintain a positive ambiance. Open spaces in and around the University, Hostels and Grounds were removed of grass, cutting wild bushes and removal polythene bags was taken care off. All the Sign Boards, Water Tanks, Toilets, Messes and other amenities were cleared and kept in a neat condition in order to maintain proper hygiene. It was organized with a mission to make the campus clean, green and plastic free.
Dr. Kapil Khemundu, Asst. Professor & Head I/c. of the Centre for Sociological studies lead the programme at the University main campus at Sunabeda. All the, employees and staff participated in the “Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan” in order to make it a success in true letter and spirit so as to to make it a laudable goal.
