Bhubaneswar,27/10( Odisha Samachar/Abhisek Mohanty ) : Police Commissionerate, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack started a three weeks Basic Training Programme on Self Defence (Un-Armed-Combat) for school and college girls as a step forward in the field of Women Empowerment Scheme in association with Lions Club, Bhubaneswar to protect themselves from undue harassment from undesirable elements.
The training will continue in different phases with each batch of trainees comprised of 60 girl students. The first batch is likely to complete the training course on November 16, 2014. The training will be imparted by selected police officials who are trained in martial arts.
“Through the training programme, a confidence would be developed among the girls. We are planning to take more steps for protection of girls in the State”, informed Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sharma.
Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati and other officials were present on the occasion.
