OS Logo Pink EnglishBhubaneswar , 18/10 ( Odisha Samachar ) – The International Model United Nations (IMUN) of KIIT University was inaugurated on Friday in KIIT Campus. On the second day Mr. Rajat Sharma, Chairman, India TV and Renowned Journalist graced the occasion. In his speech he said, I heard about KIIT, KISS and Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS. After visiting KIIT & KISS, his concept has changed, he said. He said, the man Achyuta Samanta, whose efforts made this success, was poorer than me in his childhood. All should salute to Dr. Samanta for his contribution to the society. Youths should follow the foot print of Dr. Samanta for development of our society, he said. Great organizations are established with patronize by rich men, industrialists, politician or renowned spiritual gurus. Addressing students delegates of the MUN, in ‘MUN ki Adalat’ a question answer session Shri Sharma told this. On a question regarding him he expressed his struggling life, that his childhood was very pathetic. His parents had no money to feed their ten member family. They all lived in a very small room in Delhi. He had studied under the street light of nearby railway station. But hard work and god’s blessings have made me a successful man as you see me today. Inaugurating IMUN on October 17, 2014 Ms. Kiran Mehra Kerpelman, Director, United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), New Delhi in KIIT campus said, , United Nations has been established with the motto to bring peace and development around the globe. UN is going to complete 70 years of its meaningful existence and its activities have increased manifold over the years, she informed. Model United Nations is one the most effective ways to engage youths in UN activities, she stated, adding that the UNIC patronizes and provides all the help to MUNs. MUN is the best platform to learn research, speak, make opinion and negotiate, Ms. Kerpelman said. It teaches cooperation and skills to deal with people that will help youths in the future, she added.
Being organized in association with the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan, New Delhi, it is one of the largest of its kind in Asia. More than 1500 delegates from reputed institutions of the country like IITs, NITs, National Law Schools, JNU, etc are participating. KIIT-IMUN has also attracted 40 delegates from 20 foreign countries like Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh and Bhutan. Among others Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, Prof. P. P. Mathur, VC, KIIT University, Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Students Services and Dr. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar spoke on the occasion. : Developping Odia News websites
