Bhubaneswar, 29/9 ( Odisha Samachar/ Abhisek Mohanty ) : The Airport Authority of India (AAI) will construct toilets in government girls’ schools in Odisha under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
This followed the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his maiden Independence Day address to ensure that all government schools had separate toilets for girls within a year. The spending should be from MP Local Area Development funds, budgets of the State Governments, and the CSR activities of the corporate sector.
AAI had allocated Rs. 20 crore for this nationwide project. The AAI would maintain these toilets for a period of two years.
In Odisha, 35 government girls’ schools have been identified with the help of State Department of School Education. The project cost had been estimated at Rs. 87.5 lakh.
The AAI personnel will soon visit these schools to ascertain the requirements following which tenders would be called for. The construction work will commence by January, and are likely to be completed by March.
