World Tourism Day celebrated at Biju Patnaik International Airport

English AnimatedBhubaneswar, 27/9 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty ) : Airports Authority of India, Biju Patnaik International Airport celebrated “World Tourism Day” in association with India Tourism and Odisha State Tourism Department. The theme for 2014 was “Tourism and Community Development: focusing on the ability of tourism to empower people and provide them with skills to achieve change in their local communities”.

The celebrations began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Ashok Chandra Panda, Tourism Minister; Sharad Kumar, Airport Director;  B.B. Mukherjee, Assistant Director, India Tourism; along with other dignitaries. Balloons were released by the dignitaries present and soon after the Signature Campaign started.

Passengers arriving at Bhubaneswar were welcomed with the traditional “Tilak”, flowers, sweets and souvenirs from India Tourism. Minister Ashok Chandra Panda and Airport Director Sharad Kumar conveyed their best wishes and promised their continued support in developing the tourism industry in Odisha which in turn would empower and encourage the local communities towards a better and brighter future. : Developping Odia News websites
