Bhubaneswar, 18/12 ( Odisha Samachar/Abhisek Mohanty) : All Odisha Auto Chalak Mahasangha on Thursday handed over a memorandum to Labour & ESI Minister Prafulla Mallick seeking fulfillment of their long pending demands including social security for all the transport workers, their enrollment in Rastriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) and other benefits.
“There are nearly 6 lakh transport workers engaged in providing Auto, Taxi, Bus and Truck transportation services in the State. On May 30, 2011, a letter was written to the Labour Commission by the Additional Secretary regarding enrolment of transport workers under RSBY. But it is yet to be implemented in Odisha”, said General Secretary of All Odisha Auto Chalak Mahasangha Padman Samal, adding “Except in Odisha, transport workers in other States like Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu are getting package benefits under various welfare programmes. Our genuine should be considered immediately”.
Among others, All Odisha Auto Chalak Mahasangha President Subash Singh, Working President Nabakishore Mohanty along with Sahed Ali Zoned, Debendra Subudhi, Sridhar Sahu and Debendra Subudhi were present on the occasion.
