Bhubaneswar, 18/12 ( Odisha Samachar/Abhisek Mohanty) : More than 400 unorganised workers participated in a State level Shramik Samabesh organised by Unorganized Workers’ Forum, Odisha in collaboration with Center for Child and Women Development (CCWD) & Action aid at IDCOL Auditorium here on Monday.
The objective of the programme was to address the issues of unorganized workers.
Inaugurating the programme, Bishnu Mohanty, State Secretary of CITU said “Establishment of a welfare board for the development of unorganized workers in the State is need of hour”.
Among others, Chairperson of Odisha Construction Workers’ Welfare Board Subash Singh, MP Baishnab Charan Parida, Former Finance Minister Panchanan Kanungo, President of INTUC Rama Chandra Khuntia, General secretary of AICCTU Radhakanta Sethy, Regional Manger of Action aid Debabrata Patra spoke on this occasion. The meeting was presided by Jyotshana Rani Mishra.
Sadasiv Swain Secretary of CCWD shared the aim and objective of the programme. An eight- point charter of demands seeking equal work and equal wages, formation of labour hub, establishment of unorganized workers welfare board, protection for women workers in work place, etc, was submitted to the Minister for the State Labour, Employment & ESI.
