Bhubaneswar,14/12(Odisha Samachar/Abhisek Mohanty ) : The 12th State level conference of All Odisha Non-Government College Teachers & Employees Association (AONGCTEA) was held at Agriculture College Auditorium, OUAT on Sunday here.
Speaking as the chief guest, Higher Education Minister Dr. Pradeep Panigrahy said that teachers play a pivotal role in building the nation. Teachers are the leaders who save and guide the society. Assuring to look into the demands raised by the Association, Minister said “Odisha Government is keen for the welfare of teachers and committed to providing quality education to students”. He also stressed on the need to refocus energy and resources for producing quality students for the State, national and international requirements.
The demands raised by the Association include State Scale Promotion, Revised Assured Career Progression Scheme, and enhancement of retirement age from 60 to 62.
Addressing a seminar on Crisis in Higher Education which was organised by the Association, Educationist and Association Founder President Niranjan Satapathy emphasised that infrastructures such as better provision for laboratory, hostels, peaceful atmosphere for learning and research in colleges can help in addressing the crisis in higher education sector.
Among others, MLA Mahesh Sahoo, Association President Prof. Kartika Chandra Mishra, General Secretary Chittaranjan Mahapatra and Organising Secretary Madan Mohan Mahala also spoke on the occasion.
