The Block Mahila Sanchayika Sangha Ganjam District was started by the then collector of Ganjam district in 1999 to strengthen the rural women folk. So, by the keen interest of Ganjam District Administration Hinjili, Sorada and Jagannathprasad Block Federation appointed the officials such as Project Manager, Accountant, Field Coordinator and Peon for smooth transaction and administration of women self help groups (SHGs). Other blocks self help group movement was initiated by CDPO with the help of Anganwadi workers. In all block (except Hinjili, Sorada and Jagannathprasad) SMS, MPW, PRP accountants were appointed by Mission Sakti in the year 2006. All the 80 employees obey the orders of district as well as state administration through BDO, CDPO from time to time with letter and spirit. Now we are working since last six months without salary, said Secretary of Mahila Sanchayika Sangha Employees’ Union Ganjam District Jogendra Swain.
“The State Government has implemented OLM aiming for SHG movement in Odisha and all round development of women folk in rural bases for which new appointments are going on all the blocks. We are experienced in the above field but deprived to be engaged in the OLM. We are given false promises by the high officials from all quarters from district administration to state departments to accommodate in the BMMU structure of OLM. Therefore, we have decided to continue dharna till our demand is met”, Swain added.
