Bhubaneswar , 2011 ( Odisha Samachar/Abhisek Mohanty ) : The Konark Festival, a festival of classical dances of India will be organised as usual from December 1 to 5, 2014 at open air auditorium against the backdrop of the majestic Sun Temple. The objective of the festival is to showcase various dance forms of Indian classical dances on open air stage and promote Konark as well as Odisha as a tourist destination. The Konark festival launched in 1989 has carved out a special niche in the festival calendar of India and has become a major & colourful event both for tourists and the dance lovers. Besides, the International Sand Art Festival, being a part of the Konark Festival has been well designed to attract more tourists and visitors to Chandravaga beach during this period.
To observe and experience Konark Festival and International Sand Art Festival at one destination, Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has been offering special tour packages which include AC transport, food, AC accommodation for night stay, entry fee, etc. The packages have been designed to provide scope to the tourists to visit nearby important tourist destinations like Puri, Bhubaneswar, Chilika Lake, etc, along with the events. This year, OTDC offers one day packages from Bhubaneswar & Puri from December 1 to 5. The rate per head from Bhubaneswar is Rs. 880 and from Puri is Rs. 735. Apart from that 2 nights/2 days, 3 nights/3 days & 5 nights/5 days’ packages have been developed for tour planners and tourists especially dance lovers /dance critics to experience and enjoy the events with magnitude. The rate for 2 nights/2 days is Rs. 6,915 or 115 US $ per head, 3 nights/3 days Rs. 11,380 or 190 US $ & 5 nights/5 days Rs. 17, 625 or 295 US $ per head.
