Bhubaneswar ,29/12 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty) : The Odisha State Museum which houses some of State’s finer archeological remains and treasures in its galleries, has celebrated its 56th Foundation Day on Sunday here.
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Tourism & Culture Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra said that efforts should be made to make State Museum a destination point for visitors. Museum should also preserve and promote its collection. “We are planning to introduce audio guide facility at State Museum in different languages with a view to make tourists and visitors understand about the specifications of the historical objects displayed in the galleries without hassle, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Culture Director Sushil Kumar Das laid emphasis on cleanliness of the Museum. “Everyone must come forward to protect the ancient monuments and sculptures so as to hand it over to our future generation in intact form”, he said.
On the occasion, books on “A Descriptive Catalogue of Odissi Patta Painting”, “Vishnu Purana” and Brochure on Odisha State Museum were released. The successful participants of Debate and Art Competition (held in school level) were awarded. Besides, some of the ex-officials of State Museum were felicitated.
Deputy Superintending Archaeologist Dr. Jeevan Pattnaik and Museum Curator Bhagyalipi Malla also spoke on the occasion.
