Bhubaneswar, 19/12/2017 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty )- : Odisha government executed an agreement with KfW (a development bank of Germany) Bank for ensuring urban infrastructure development in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “Odisha Urban Infrastructure Development Fund has taken up sustainable urban infrastructure projects having positive impact on environment with an investment of about Rs 2, 000 crore. KfW Development Bank, Germany had provided 52.5 million Euro in the first phase. Following its success, we have decided to implement second phase projects availing 57 million Euro from KfW Development Bank. The main areas of focus will be reclamation, rejuvenation and restoration of water bodies in water scarce urban areas, providing energy efficient street lightning, municipal solid waste management, development of modern wet market, abattoirs, etc. All these urban infrastructure projects will enhance the livability standards of our cities.”
The aim is to achieve sustainable financing of water, waste, solid waste and recycling infrastructure projects.
