Angul,24/2 ( Odisha Samachar / Biplab Mahapatra) – Wild Life Crime Control Board (WCCB) is a statutory body constituted under the Wild Life Protection Act.1972 for combating wild life crime in the country. There are several complaints that some schools/ colleges illegally using /possessing wild animals in their laboratories /meuseums. Ministrty of Environment and Forests , Government of India on 26th Sept, 2012 issued a Circular to the Vice Chancellors of all Universitirs,Principal Secretaries of Eduvation Department of all States . Despites of the circular some schools/ colleges illegally using /possessing wild animals in their laboratories /meuseums.
on Monday a raid was conducted by People for Animals-PFA, Angul Unit along with the forest Department at Angul Autonomous College, Angul, and recovered prohibited animals, including Cobra, Rat Snake, Russell’s viper,Common Krait, Banded Krait, Pit Viper, Veiled Eye Chameleon, Draco, Leech, Octopus and many other specimen from the Zoology Lab of the College. Total 35 Specimens (Jar) were recovered.
