Cuttack ,19/6 ( Odisha Samachar Bureau ) – On behalf of Department of Tourism & Culture, Government of Odisha, Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy is organizing a 3-day long Rangabati Festival at Kalavikas Kendra, Cuttack. It was a complete taste of indigenous Music & Dance with its pristine flavour and grandeur when the artistes of Western Odisha thronged to the stage with their boisterous yet melodious music which not only appealed the art lovers but also made the audience dancing on their toes.
The first programme started Sabeswar Bhoi a renowned singer of Bhawanipatna of Kalahandi district who regaled the audience with his brilliant presentation. This was followed by Orchestra by Dulduli Kala Parisad of Balangir who with different percussion instruments and other endemic musical instruments enchanted the audience. Next item was Sambalpuri dance by Nupur Institute at Barpali of Baragarh district. They presented dance and music with rhythmic variations much to the joy of audience. The Orchestra by Jivanbhora Sagar of Sambalpur had a presentation of musical ensemble with traditional instruments. The concluding item was Singhari by Prativa Institution of Bhawanipatna of Kalahandi district. It was a beautiful blend of Ghumura, Bajasal, Banabadi, Dhap and other traditional instruments. They made the audience spellbound by their superb presentation elegantly punctuated with songs of nature and day to day events of the people of Kalahandi.
The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Shri Prasanna Acharya, Hon’ble Minister, Finance; Shri Debasis Samantaray, Hon’ble MLA, Barabati Cuttack; Dr. Priyambada Mohanty Hejmadi, Noted Odissi Exponent and Former VC, Sambalpur University; Shri Susil Kumar Das, Director, Culture, Guru Ramhari Das, Chief Executive, GKCM Odissi Reasearch Centre; Shri Khirod Prasad Mohanty, Managing Truste, Kalavikas Kendra, Cuttack; Shri Sarat Pujari, President, OSNA, Smt. Aruna Mohanty, Vice President, OSNA and Shri Chitta Ranjan Mallia, Secretary, OSNA. The programme was compered by Shri Manabhanjan Mishra and Smt. Sibangi Mohapatra.
