Bhubaneswar , 20/7 ( Odisha Samachar/Abhisek Mohanty) : Lions Club Bhubaneswar has undertaken several social activities for the year 2014-15 with a broad view to bring some changes in people’s quality of life and help the needy.
“The future activities will include improvement of Lions eye hospital and extending general health care facility, providing education and organizing health camps in rural areas, treatment facility for diabetes patients and eradication of blindness. Besides taking up plantation programmes, the club will step up efforts towards raising awareness for curing AIDS and cancer. Steps will also be taken for permanent solution of traffic problems”, informed President of Lions Club Lion Er. Bipin Bihari Nayak at a press conference here.
“We have also decided to hold awareness drives for women’s protection and to prevent female foeticides”, he said.
He further added that the club has decided to lay special emphasis on health care, education and financial upliftment of the downtrodden people of the society. Nearly 500 cataract operations are performed at Lions eye hospital in Nayapalli per month for free of cost and computerized low cost eye treatment is also provided at the hospital.
Club’s Secretary Lion Er. Mahendra Patra and Treasurer Lion Milan Kumar Sahoo were also present in the press conference.
