Inaugurating the conference, Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik conveyed warm greetings to the Association members. He said “Diploma engineers have all first hand knowledge about the projects of the government. To sustain and accelerate economic growth, the government is emphasising on massive infrastructure development in the State. The diploma engineers have a great responsibility to ensure quality infrastructure projects. Updating knowledge and ideas is essential for the engineers to keep pace with the latest developments”.
Reading the annual report, General Secretary of the Association Er. Narendra Kumar Nayak said “After formation of new engineering cadre in Panchayati Raj Department, the government since two years has directed to include the services of regularized junior engineers, scheme junior engineers, N.F.F.W junior engineers and GPTAs. But it is yet to be implemented”.
He further said that the government has implemented cadre restructuring and introduced new law for recruitment of diploma engineers. But it is regretful that the services of contractual junior engineers have not been regularized and they are deprived of getting grade pay. Besides that, promotion of diploma engineers from assistant engineers to executive assistant engineers’ post should be increased from 33 percent to 50 percent, Nayak added.
Among others, Steel & Mines Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallick, Finance Minister Pradeep Kumar Amat, MLAs Priyadarshi Mishra and Mahesh Sahu were present on the occasion.
