Bhubaneswar,13/04/2017 ( Odisha Samachar )- Indian Chess Team received Federation Gold Medal along with 26 Medals in Asian Youth Chess Championship held at Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The championship 2017 held from 31st March to 9th April 2017. Federation Gold Medal is calculated on number of total Gold medal for the country where as India is the one to win eleven Golds in both boys and girls U-8, U-10, U-12 U-14, U-16 and U-18. Uzbekistan placed in 2nd place by receiving Federation Silver with 8 Golds.
India Team bagged 11 Gold, 12 Silver and 7 Bronze medals in different age Categories (U-8 Open & Girls, U-10 O&G, U-12 O&G, U-14 O&G, U-16 O&G, U-18 O&G). The Federation Gold Medal was received by The Head of Delegation, Manikanda Swamy of Tamil Nadu and Official Coach of Indian Team Aparajita Gochhikar of Odisha. The India Team was playing under the guidance of Ms. Aparajita Gochhikar of Odisha who is Official Coach of Indian Chess Team. Aparajita is one of the KIIT Alumni and she contributing her effort towards development of Chess in Odisha through KIIT. Congratulating her Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS said, Aparajita is proud of KIIT & KISS and wished her to bring more laurel to the country.
Odisha Boy Priansh Das came 5th in U-8 Open Category where as Anwesha Mishra came 8th in U-16 Girls Category. Sriansh Dash came 14th in U-8 Open in Asian Youth Chess Championship 2017. Expressing her satisfaction Aparajita said, it was a nice experience in Tashkent. Though it was very hard to reach the top, still the encouragement and motivation marked a lot to win the medal. Ultimately our country is proud for Indian Team, she added. She thanked the All India Chess Federation for giving her the opportunity to perform.
