Puri, 28/6 ( Odisha Samachar) – Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch in association with Youth Red Cross, Junior Red Cross and District Red Cross Branch, Puri is organizing Rath Yatra, Social Service Camp at Puri to provide health & care services to the pilgrims and visitors during Car Festival 2014. The Social Service Camp on the occasion of Rath Yatra 2014 has been inaugurated on 28th June 2014 at Town Hall, Puri.
The prime objective of such camp is to provide Health & care services, cleanliness and most importantly to present an opportunity for the YRC and JRC volunteers across the state to congregate and exchange ideas. Through this social service camp safe drinking water, generic medicine, stretcher services, Ambulance service, First Aid service etc. would be provided to the pilgrims & visitors.
Dr. S.C. Jamir, His Excellency, Governor, Odisha and President, Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch inaugurated the Social Service Camp as the Chief Guest and said that it is an attempt to tap the immense potentiality of volunteerism latent within the Youth of Odisha . Red Cross continues to shine with its unique identity in serving the pilgrims during the festival of Rath Yatra.
Shri Dhiren Kumar Pattnaik, Collector & Chairman, District Red Cross Branch Puri joined as Distinguished Guests in the inaugural function and appreciated the initiatives taken by Odisha Red Cross..
Dr. Chakradhara Panda, Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch extended the welcome address in this occasion. The Program was ended with vote of thanks by Sri Bhupesh Chandra Sahoo, Cousellor of Dhenkanal Autonomous College.
Trained volunteers would rendered stretcher services near the cordon area. Water sprayer units would be in position to provide pilgrims relief from the intense heat and humidity. In addition Two Ambulance with attendance would be stationed at the Grand Road for emergency services. Emergency Health centre would be operatred at Utkal Hindi Vidyapitha with temporary hospital with doctors, volunteers and generic medicines would be set up by IRCS-OSN. Besides, Red cross volunteers and life members would be deployed at the District Head Quarter Hospital, Puri for rendering health & care services to the pilgrim and people.
After the departure of Chariots to Gundicha Temple the YRC, JRC Volunteers, Counselors, Members and staff of Red Cross would undertake the noble endeavor of Bada Danda cleaning i.e. form Singhadwara as symbol of commitment of Red Cross to health, hygiene and sanitation.
Approximately , 200 YRC volunteers and Counsellors from colleges, trained volunteers, Red Cross Members would join in the camp to render health and care services to pilgrims and people during the Car Festival.
Besides the first aid centre and Red Cross service camp have been opened near Gundicha Mandir to provide first aid service, water distribution and campaigning of Jan Aushdhi Generic Medicines to the pilgrims from 29th to 7th July 2014.
